FYI for bar soap. About a week or two before you need to replace your bar, open up the new one and let it be exposed to the air so it will dry out. Also put it somewhere it will dry between uses. It will make the bar last longer. Yes bar soap is cheaper to use.

Bar soap all the way. I'm a Duke Cannon man, and one of their bars lasts me about 3x as long as one of their body washes for the exact same money. Also, when you get down to that last tiny piece of soap, get it, and your new bar wet and stick them together. No waste.

I went back to soapbar few months ago, it has sentimental value of old time since I was raised with soap bar in the 70-80s, also it gives free room air freshner because the bathroom smells nice throughout the day, the downside is cleaning the soap scum on the tray every now and then and combining small soap onto a fresh new bar to fully use the soap. but I have less plastic waste because the soap packing is paper, and I throw the wrapping paper in my drawer to make the drawer smells nice too.

What I do is when a bar starts to become a smidgen, I move it to the sink and use it for handwashing (or shaving if I'm out of foam or gel).

That is why I use bar soap, but I probably don't get any savings from it, because my bar soap is like $.3.25 a bar. It's especially for sensitive skin, and it is supposed to be non-drying formulated for your face and body.

Get yourself a sponge and a soap stone. Wet sponge, rub bar on sponge until it’s frothing with foam. Place soap back on soap stone. Scrub body. Never going back to shower gel.

The reason I use bar soap? It's simple, I HATE body wash! That $18.25 savings, you must remember, is for just ONE person. What if you're a family of 4 or 5? That becomes $100 per year which sure makes the cost of new video cards less painful.

I agree, also this is the cheapest bar soap/bodywash product which is you know, not very good for you. The bar soap I uses is about $5 a pop and that becomes even more saving a year... don't cheap out on health.

I buy generic Oil of Olay bodywash in a 23.6 oz bottle...but I put it in a 5 oz. plastic bottle with a smaller hole... I take about 3-4 oz. of bodywash and I water it down with 4 tablespoons of water, this makes the bodywash thinner and it will last longer. It lasts for 6 months and it costs $4 so I spend $8 a year on bodywash. Oil of Olay and Dove make thick bodywashes and if you water them down you still get plenty of lather. If you use a bottle with a smaller hole you will squirt out less product.

This is the kind of content I watch KZbin for. Make it more rigorous and this can be published as a report xD. For instance, buying both of them from the same brand (if the price is not too different as compared to others). Make sure that the bar soap is not getting dissolved with shower water (although, that may not reflect normal usage) Take *just enough* of them so that it is not wasted (again, the above point). This would give some insight into the most efficient way to bathe (both materially and monetarily)

Bar soap is cheaper and it actually cleans. With body wash my armpits would start smelling right after the shower. And with bar soap... My armpits stay smelling clean. I use Yardley's Oatmeal and Almond soap.... Cheaper than body wash.

I searched for this soap value video... for years I've been an efficiency minded fanatic, maybe a bit too much. I find comfort in knowing that I'm not being wasteful. However the value I find in knowing soap is there when I get in the shower is much more important, so I stock both in the shower. Ha

You can buy soap in bulk at the health food store and they will give you a little brown bag to carry it home in. Our health food stores carry it in different kinds for $1.98 a bar CAD. 💚
