The relationship between 2-D and Noodle is just soooooo extremely sweet and I love it. In the early years, it’s big bro/little sis but later it’s more like big sis/lil bro…but, either way, they are there for each other no matter what else happens. Sometimes I feel like Noodle’s the only real friend 2-D has…but, I’m glad he has her friendship. She seems to serve as that reminder that he does matter, even when he feels like he doesn’t. She’s that one bright spot in his life and is probably what keeps him going even when he’s at his lowest. When that strange FedEx box showed up at Kong Studios, Murdoc found his guitarist but 2-D found a lifelong friend…❤

I'm seriously sobbing and I never cry from stuff like this but 2D is my favorite character and I relate to him a lot in some ways which is probably the reason why he is my favorite. Seeing Noodle at the end making him happy made me smile so much cause even though he is fictional I want him to be happy. The part were Noodle goes in front of the pills that he is staring at is so well thought out, people don't need that stuff, they just need someone in their life to make them happy. I swear I have been listening to Gorillaz for as long as I can remember and I have always loved 2-D he is one of my biggest comfort characters. As a person who was there when phase 1 was a thing I would like to say WELL DONE! You did an amazing job capturing the canon of their story at the time, and their surroundings are spot on! Have you any plans on turning it into a full video at all? Would be nice to see, but the animatic style does lend to the story and the song pretty well. Lastly I love the use of 'Hip Albatross' at the end, such a juxtaposition to what the story told, I was worried he would wake up and find it had all been a dream.

The more I watch your animatics the more I'm convinced you understand these characters better than they understand themselves. You're very unapologetic in your depiction of each one of them, if that makes sense? Like, you don't try to augment or dilute aspects of their personalities, you just allow them to act as they would without making excuses for them. Just had a revaluation. Do you think 2d watches zombie films because he believe he himself is a zombie? Think about it. Most zombie films have zombies have dark or white eyes, and he sort of walks like one. Hell, he dressed up as a mummy! Man has been through so much he’ll he thinks he is a literal zombie of Stu pot. I’m the ending scene, the narrator is saying “those who never got put to rest come back again, but not like they used to be.” Or something along those lines, maybe 2d sees himself like that. Stu pot being the living man, and now 2d is living a literal hell seemingly dead in his own mind. You could even say all of the gorillaz is just 2d’s own personal hell. 2d being the spirit of Stu, noodle maybe represents his naivety since he was young when the incident happened. Murdoc, of course being the man who killed him, being his constant abuser. Russell could represent his passion for music, but could also be 2d’s conscious trying to tell him he’s dead, since Russell was haunted for a long time. Maybe the “possession or haunting” was the ghost of another killed victim in the crash trying to get 2d to realize he was dead, and gave up when they realized 2d will probably never understand it, maybe even 2d being the body left behind, and del being the spirit of Stu, trying to move on but stuck in a constant state of doubt and 2d is now stuck in his own personal hell. Wow, this turned from a small theory to every single part of the gorillaz canon being the aftermath of a tragic incident and it all being in 2d’s decaying mind.

I'm crying. So touching! T^T This was amazing! The ending was incredibly sweet. Aaah, Noodle making 2D breakfast and Russ coming in and visiting after a rough night, only for Muds to steal the food and Noodle to beat him up! Really love the band dynamic you established! Excellent animation!

I love this dysfunctional family. 2D awkwardly hugging Murdoc when Murdoc just wanted an egg was the best thing ever. I can actually picture what they’re saying in the bits where dialogue is implied, amazing work!
