I'm not an old gamer but I wholeheartedly agree about the multiplayer part. I want the story. The lore. It's such a well established, fleshed out world. I wouldn't mind the option to co-op with a friend if I wanted to. But a fallout MMO? It's not even canon in my head

Another nice development that wasn't mentioned in that video: it turned out that some of those helmets had a faulty design that could potentially cause cancer due to the material used in the liner of the helmet.

personally i think the biggest issue with multiplayer was that the focus was put on it instead of having it as a nice and refreshing side dish to the main course of the game i think i can say a bunch of fans would have loved a new and interesting fallout experience where multiplayer was a co op feature intergrated into the game like say being able to visit friends world and so on kinda like what mods are trying to do but actually made for the game by bethesda instead of centering the whole experience around it

I fucking said it when addons were coming out for games 20 years or more ago. If you let companies take undeserved money, they won't stop, they'll keep finding ways to take undeserved money. It started with basic shit that should have been in the BASE games, and now we're to the point where companies are making you pay to CUSTOMIZE YOUR CHARACTER!
@Necrobadger
@Necrobadger 3 жыл бұрын
Imagine if Final Fantasy 7 had been 45 dollars. Then, to unlock certain materia, you had to pay 20 more dollars. Then to access Yuffie and Vincent, it was 25 more dollars. Wanna play games at the golden saucer? 1 ticket each, but tickets refresh at 1 per day, with packs of 10 sold at 5 dollars each. Want your new weapons to look different in the battle screen? 9.99. Unlock the chance to fight the optional weapon bosses for 4.99 each! Bought all that? Cool, you now have all the available content and a bit more from disk 1. Bet you can't wait to unlock disks 2 and 3 for 25 more dollars each! Did you unlock Yuffie and Vincent? Cool! Now you just have to pay a measly 1.99 each to access their ultimate weapons! Isn't that a bargain from the 4.99 you have to pay for the MAIN characters special weapons??

For me it was the moment they said there would be no npc, just audio I knew the game was not for me and unlikely to do well. This fiasco happens when you put an inexperienced team to make a triple A game bigger than fallout 4 which has a longer development time an a very experienced team. Bethesda really thought making the fallout 4 frame work multi platform and then enhancing it would be a piece of cake.

I enjoy multiplayer games in certain genres. I played TF2 and then Overwatch basically every day for years, and FF14 is a new obsession for me. And although I don't play Bethesda games too much (my brain will always follow the main story quests instead of exploring, and side quests are obviously the main content in the games) but Fallout just seems like a weird choice to turn into an MMO. Maybe if it was like Borderlands where it could be single player or co-op story.

biggest reason it wasn't good: bethesda is a single player rpg developer. they have no experience making multiplayer games. and the idea of a multiplayer fallout made little sense. most (if not all) of the bugs in their games are usually fixed by fans (fan-mod / fan-patches), so they are not used to fixing bugs. and from what I learned, everything that happened had something to do with the head of ZeniMax (the company that owns Bethesda and some other studios, kinda like EA but smaller and worse).

To me, the craziness that micro transactions achieved was because of the real worst thing that happened to gaming. Game Corporations being taken over by Short term Speculators instead of long term investors. It's created a sickening cycle of always having the pressure to constantly get them profits every quarter in an unsustainable loop. This means, the people buying their games are no longer the customer. The short term "investors" are the customers. The lower ranked employees and the people buying the game are the product.

I never once finished a bethesda game because they all have insane amounts of bugs and it was just annoying to play. But after Fallout 76 I know for sure that i will never again buy a bethesda game. And its not because the game was a mess but how the company itself handled everything. They just showed there that they are not worth trusting and giving money to

i mean skyrim proves you wrong on the not worth giving money to. although i feel like after skyrim became as big as it was it inflated their ego so much they stopped caring. so i guess they were fine until skyrim gave them an ego boost even though skyrim is only as big as it is due to mods not bethesda.

@@jdogzerosilverblade299 you just stated my biggest issue with Skyrim. The mods make it great. The game itself is still good no question but not as good as everyone says it is. But yes After that it only got worse and with Fallout 76 they have proven (atleast to me) that they cannot be trusted anymore especially the way they handled the customers

Fallout 3 would've been epic. If you were the main character instead of your dad.

Id love internet historian to eventually make a part 2 to this video because the game is actually pretty good now, which surprised me as someone who thought a multi-player fallout was a bad idea, in all honesty i think i actually enjoy it more than i did fallout 4 just because it gives you a lot more freedom like 3 & new vegas. Though Bethesda still managed to have a few more slips & mess ups before it got to where it is now lol

Yeah, as far as i've heard, there won't be any new Fallout games for the next 5 or more years so i'll jump in and try it.

The microtransactions in Fallout 76 are as bad as ever though. Maybe even worse than at launch since Bethesda decided to go back on the "only costmetics" thing as well. AAA games that charge any sort of price while also having in-game stores are a disgusting stain on the industry. The day Bethesda announce they are closing the Atomic Shop is the day I'll give Fallout 76 another shot and stop warning anyone who ever talks about it against playing it.

@@Pumbli I've literally never spent any money on the atomic shop, its all just cosmetic stuff and they give away free all the time and give you atoms for doing the timed objectives, so if you really want anything you can just grind and it's not very hard. Id bet the dlc & expansions are probably bringing in more money than the atomic shop now. Either way, if it doesn't impact the gameplay I dont have an issue.

i agree with really likeing fallout 4 but i really did not like how they removed the skills and karma. because they could have done so much with the karma like allowing you to have a morality system with the villains like they did in the first 2 games where you could recruit villains to your team and it was not as scripted. i also would have liked if they brought back the team system istead of having just one companion at a time. and without the skill system why is this game even considered a RPG anymore now its just f@$king call of duty with a fallout paint job. i tell people just play wasteland 2 and 3 those are the true fallout 3 and 4 for me. or even outer worlds because the original creators made it. cause even though i liked fallout 3 and 4 i liked the first two the best. and the wasteland seqeuls really gave me fallout 1&2 vibes.

Fallout 76 is at this moment the culmination of Bethesda’s incompetence. From Fallout 3 to 76, the quality of the writing and worldbuilding has gone downhill more and more with each passing day. For example, some points about the Minutemen as you mention: They are a complete nonentity in the game that go nowhere near to feeling like an actual faction, eventually being populated by NPCs that don’t do anything. You run into Garvey and all of a sudden he makes you the leader but it’s meaningless. You are the leader in name only because you constantly have to do quests and turn them into him like he’s in charge, and beyond that you can’t do anything for the Minutemen. And no, building and saving settlements don’t count, speaking of he straight up tells you to get more when you want to build the teleporter but don’t have enough settlements. Your character’s motivation! There’s videos that go well into detail on why Bethesda has done poorly with Fallout.

Mine are New Vegas and 2 for the story. New Vegas overall because is a good story with "modern-ish" gameplay.
