I had my wisdom teeth out when I was ateenager and I was awake for the whole operation. They just numbed my mouth and went to work, topping up the anesthetic when they had to chop one of the teeth into a few separate pieces in order to get it out. After all the teeth were removed I was able to go home straight away. I wasn't given any drug that would make me high, I was just prescribed a fairly strong painkiller from the hospital pharmacy for the next few days. A nurse went and collected it for me and then I headed home. I'm in the UK, I don't know if it's different where Fillian lives or if her operation was more complicated for some reason.
