It is so surprising that the man who wrote this show, also wrote The Idol.

Right ?! He did such a good job with the characters here. I can’t comprehend how he fumbled so bad in the idol
@youyeedyourlasthaw Жыл бұрын
he sort of fumbled in season 2 with Kat, and the teenaged nudity is weird, but he’s good at pretty camera shots.
@briana-michelle17 Жыл бұрын
i have to remind myself multiple times a day that “two things can be true at once. i don’t find it hard to believe that he wrote the idol bc let’s not forget he also added the mckay SA scene and then never really brought it up again. he did that for shock value, he wanted clicks and he got them. he also has an obsession with showing “teen” nudity when it’s not necessary at all. i would literally be like “why is her boobs out rn? what does that add?” multiple times while watching euphoria.
@アキコ2003 Жыл бұрын
@@briana-michelle17 what does it unadd? Are them being out unadding anything from the scene? Why is someone waking up her girlfriend while having her b's out bother you? Should she have slept and woken up with a uncomfortable jacket on?

It's quite simple, he's a very flawed human being that went through many hardships in life and that's completely okay, nobody is perfect. Just like he can create amazing content he can also create bad content which Is normal.

Fun fact: Zendaya and Colman met when she was little; he was doing a play at the theater Zendaya's mom worked for and one day on set she told that story and said that seeing that man was one of the reasons why she decided to try acting but she didn't know it was actually him and he didn't know she was there. So destiny worked its way and they're starred together in a show where their characters are bound in such a powerful way, both won Emmy awards and are now friends for life. And Colman said when he won his Emmy that she was the best actor he has ever shared a scene with in its 25 years career, and when you know that it's because she saw him as a child that she wanted to become an actor in the first place, you can't do nothing else but cry and cheer. Just wow!!!

Ali is still my fave character on this show, no contest. His actor is so dynamic and charismatic on screen that we can listen to just dialogue for a whole episode and it's still gripping. The written lines were amazing, vulnerable and real and he really made it believable that this character has lived this experience.

He’s killing it for sure. The role he’s playing is just one of many that send the same kind of message to newcomers and sponsies but this particular character I think was a perfect role for him.

This episode had me crying the whole time as well. Although i dont have experience with drug addiction, i have an eating disorder which completely parallels so much of what is discussed in this episode. The biggest difference, I guess as they say, you cant abstain from food. I cant imagine how horrific a situation it would be to go through something like Rue and yet i relate to so much of it.

I’ve had a hard time with SH since middle school, during COVID everything sort of exacerbated with being on lock down. This episode had me bawling my eyes out and laughing too, just like you did. It was a breathe of fresh air in a way & really put SO many things Into perspective. I’m 21 now going on 22 next month and I haven’t self harmed in 3 years. I never had anyone to talk to, so it felt like Ali was talking to me…it helped me. Great reaction ❤️

Thank you! I was looking for a review by someone in recovery. I totally agree with you-this is one of the best recovery episodes I’ve ever seen. Given that the first season was basically a Petrie dish, they had to figure out what they COULD shoot, and this is perfect. A diner with a waitress & 2 customers at Christmas. And they even answer why he stays to talk even though she’s high. He has 2 daughters who won’t see him, and he’s keeping himself sober. We should write some of his sayings down & use them in meetings!

What does it mean to believe in the poetry?
@7DeadlyBananas Жыл бұрын
Kind of another way of saying “god has a plan.” Poetry was created from pain, loss, love, happy, sad, anger…. And yet, the poetry it creates is beautiful, eloquent, inspiring, passionate. To me, with that in mind, we are the poetry. We are the ones capable of turning whatever hard strifes we have gone through into something more beautiful than we could ever imagine. A type of beauty that’s viral and potent. To speak poetically, I call myself and anyone like me (just someone who’s been through some shit), “One of the Broken.” My battle scars with life and myself are the things that make my beauty. And I now get to see that in others. Best I can do to explain 😂 sorry if it’s still confusing

7:10 talking from the perspective of someone who hasnt struggled with addiction, and purely looking it at it from a philosophical perspective, I tend to agree with rue in their conversation about god. If everything is part of his plan and everything has a purpose, why is that some people are supposed to die and some get to live. And I especially hate it when people say it that people dying prematurely happens for a reason. There is no good reason for death. In season 2 they tried to argue the point that you have to give it a reason, but you going on with ur life isnt giving their death a reason, it's just you doing your best to live with the fact that theyre gone. Of course using it to justify drug use and other bad stuff is bad, but I never struggled with that, and still agree with her. Tho I do think that using god, or something else, as a tool for finding purpose, especially if u have mental problems or drug use, is helpful

Again as I said in the live chat (from Boston) I was functioning addict (until I wasn't) and it wasn't a "balancing act" it was more like spinning plates and it first it was "fun" (until it wasn't) I remember telling myself (and friends) how there wasn't a void I was filling... I did it cause I liked it.... but then some how the script flipped, because that No Void became the void... and those spinning plates got a lot harder to keep in place (but to be honest.... I needed those crashing plates to fall when they did, or I wouldn't be here today!)
