Fire departments are designated Safe Haven drop off points where parents can surrender newborns that they don't feel they can care for, no questions asked. Police departments and hospitals are too, but many people are afraid of those places so fire departments actually get utilized for this purpose more often than you might think. (Former social worker here! We love Safe Haven drop offs, they are much better than all of the alternatives!) Edited to add: Osco is actually a chain in the Chicago area.

​​@@july_juliim pan so cant give a good perspective but a lesbian once told me that in bars and culturally lesbians are used to sleeping with straight women or curious ones and that its fine. But when you are in a whole relationship you already have the world not taking your relationships seriously. Men always try to intervene in lesbian relationships bc they dont deem them a threat. Lesbians ive met have had their relationships never treated as real or as special as a straight or male gay one. So when a woman especially one identifying as lesbian sleeps with a man while with you im sure thats so damaging psychologically. This friend told me that its like affirmation that other women will never love or value your personhood like they will with a man in a relationship, and that it affirms no matter how hard they try women will always want a man anyway.

​@@july_juliI mean if you think about it, if your girlfriend says that she's gay and cheats on you with a girl then its bad but she's still gay and true to herself (cheating is still bad) but if she cheats with a guy then its like...were you gay at all? So everything about you is a lie so what else could she be lying about? Which makes it worse

@@MightyMazzOG ah, I get what you mean. If someone is being disingenuous about their sexuality in this manner it makes you feel like you didn’t even know them. So it might feel like they just sort of used you for whatever exploration they had in mind or just generally were dishonest about their feelings. I guess I’ve just been around more relationships where it was established that someone was bisexual or just generally queer not strictly gay, so I was applying that logic and in that case I don’t think it matters. But I understand why someone might feel this way.

As someone who is probably bi I get why it can sting a bit more to see your same gender partner cheat with someone of a different gender, especially if being gay/lesbian is a big part of your identity, but in most cases it shouldn't make a difference. It does feel very much biphobic if shows (or people) make it a point to let cheating appear "worse" if it's with another gender. It kinda enforces the idea that bi equals cheating or immorality and that's NOT a message we want

Shameless suffers from making men victims of sexual assault into a joke and biphobia - it is not worse to get cheated on with someone of the opposite sex, it always sucks to be cheated on. Fellow gay here. Yeah it would be worse. I mean. Cheating sucks, period. But swapping genders is a hard battle because the competition and comparison isn't possible. If my husband cheats with a man, I can compete with that. It's the "what do they have that I dont". But when you swap the gender, it's very clear that you can play in that ballpark.
