Brilliantly transposed to acoustic, man. The droning added a middle eastern vibe that works amazingly with the melody.
@zacharyradford55522 жыл бұрын
The music for the song was inspired by Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir.
@marklar51423 Жыл бұрын
@zacharyradford5552 I'd say that's a bit much, unless I missed something in an interview somewhere. Certainly, it's derived from the same region musically and has a similar chord structure and progression but is not necessarily directly influenced by Led Zeppelin. Jimmy Page doesn't even make his personal top 11 influences. Perhaps, somewhere, there's an honorable mention of Zeppelin since they do occasionally cover 'No Quarter' and have even dressed as the band for Halloween. It's more likely, however, that their own independent explorations ultimately lead AJ to experiment with the Eastern styling(s) of music. Especially when you consider Tool's heavy presence of ancient spiritual philosophy and symbolism. EVH is given a lot of credit as an influence, and EVH was inspired by Page. However, EVH was more interested in his style rather than the final sound. EVH ultimately ran away with his own style, and sound, to go on to inspire the next generation of artists. Perhaps there's more I need to know about AJs first band, Electric Sheep. Perhaps Zeppelin was more often played or referenced in nuance back then, but I've not heard much mention of Zeppelin from any of the members of Tool. Again, perhaps it's my own personal oversight being that I'm positive I haven't read or heard every single interview or behind the scenes moment. The origin of Sober came about prior to AJ being part of the band. It was from a song MJK worked out while with one of his first bands, COTAD. It seems AJ simply had the skill and introspection to saturate the song with more depth and style versatility.
