About to take my Security+ tomorrow. I have completed the UNLV Cybersecurity Bootcamp a few months back and have been trying to keep learning and retaining the MASSIVE amount of info. You give a guy like me some hope for a good future in this field (wanting to start in a SOC and blueteam it up first)

I’ve been at a SOC for 4 months and it’s not like the movies and you don’t have to know everything. But tbh you have to know ALOT and I was surprised how talented the analysts get at the more senior level.

Great video Blake, enjoyed it! If you, upload a video talking about what exactly you do in your role, the tasks and responsibilities, possibly the tools and systems used.

Hey Blake, So good to hear that you're enjoying and doing well in the field. Just like you i also started my career by being a SOC analyst before pursuing my Masters. Now I'm again looking for job opportunities in the US to continue my career in cybersecurity. Just like you I'm also very much excited to learn and grow as a SOC analyst and would definitely love to know you more and hopefully join your company and work besides you. haha

Your content has been insightful ever since I started watching your videos. I am an international student in the US and I am halfway through the try hack me SOC Level 1 you recommended once, and its been absolutely worth it so far!

Great video Blake! I've spent over a year in a security internship so its insightful to see what you've experienced as a full timer. It sounds like you have a great team to not feel the erge to jump companies due to severe burnout. I don't know if you agree, but after working in the field, you realize the idea of working in cyber is much cooler than when you actually do (now it is cool but I'm emphasizing how strong the previous expectation was).

First of all great video form MSSP SOC Analyst turned Network Security Engineer. I do agree that you don't need everything to start the journey, but that being said a strong understanding of networking is strongly advised. The amount of other analysts and even security engineers I have met in my time that struggle to understand basic networking concepts is baffling to me.

im a DCOT(Data Center Operation Technician/ on my job profile it says computer engineer but my contract says that. and I do security and installs right now its pretty nice to learn but I've been studying python heavy to move up and going to get that CCNA soon, its cool seeing other people in the defense side. he's 100% right I don't have a degree you just have to have a grasp of the technologies each company has a different procedure of how they do things you will have to relearn.

I have been studying for comp sec 701 and will take it mid February. My aim is being the tier 1 soc analyst. What are you thoughts about leveraging stuff like bash on your day to day? What hard skills do you leverage? is being a soc analyst more about knowing how to prioritize vulns and following frameworks?
