What Dr Auger fails to mention is that an "entry level" role requires 2 years of experience. Where do you get experience before you get your first job? When I graduated from my tech school, many students complained that they could not get an interview.

It’s a good point, and why I did this video w letsdefend. You need to get practical skills that would come as close as possible to simulate real world experience. I can empathize with how frustrating it can be for anyone that finishes an educational program and is unable to parley it into a role. I had a similar experience when I graduated undergrad in early 2000s. Networking within community has major value as well but it’s difficult to set a time horizon on getting work w networking. Thanks for taking time to watch/comment

@@SimplyCyber Also, I think I know why people don't want to do it. I have a friend who is a SOC analyst, but he says he stares at a computer screen ten hours a day. I suspect that is the reason for the high turn over. Also, when I completed my internship, there was ONE opening for a SOC analyst and 300 applications; I was not invited for an interview.

@@SimplyCyber Dr Auger, rather an advertise for "Let's Defend", why don't you put together an apprenticeship? Plumbers and Electricians go thru training and then do an apprenticeship. Nursing has a "residency". Automotive does the same. (apprenticeship). Why doesn't cyber have an apprenticeship?
@Bacwood64 күн бұрын
@swiswach3130 a SOC apprenticeship is easier said then done. No matter the platform Elastic, JumpCloud etc there is a cost for each user/admin. There are some apprenticeships out their but again competitive to get one.

@@swiswach3130 They do, in my country anyway. I've applied for a few CyberSecurity Graduate Apprenticeship programs, and I've also seen graduate positions advertised too, for those who have just finished their studies.

Not really seeing it, as someone with multiple certs, and experience in Security I just don't see the jobs. And those I do, pay way too little and requires you to be in office.

You have to start somewhere before you get a dream remote job.

what is the difference between a cyber analyst and a SOC analyst?
@patrickessien61594 күн бұрын
@@christophercahall3092 A Cybersecurity Analyst protects the company’s overall digital security, setting up defenses and helping prevent attacks. A SOC Analyst monitors the company’s systems in real-time from a Security Operations Center, quickly detecting and responding to any threats. Think of the Cybersecurity Analyst as setting up the security system and the SOC Analyst as watching the cameras and handling alarms. #CyberTalkWithPatrickEssien

The best content is behind the more expensive plan (VIP+)... shame... expensive even when its $200 per year.
