If you live in a rural area, you know/trust your neighbors so you don’t need as many government imposed rules. On the other hand, if you live in the city, your neighbors are out to get you, so you need big government.

I think we aren't really divided, its a matter of where each of us are getting our data. If the platforms were more truthful and did not lie as much in the last 10+ years, the country would not be this divided. So I blame the news and people that control them. If we all receive the truth or at least no blantly lies, we will make better choices.

I‘m not sure I would agree with the contention that immigrants, first off, are a homogeneous group. Secondly in my experience many, if not most, immigrants are culturally conservative and economically liberal. Historically this was very much the Democratic Party; today, it feels that that Democrats, especially in the leadership, are more interested in progressive culture issues. Tony Blair‘s comment comes to mind “When you loose the people on the cultural issues you ultimately lose them on everything else”.

Yup, it's really only the big urban population centers where democrats have the largest number of voters. The reason is because that's where most of the Universities are and the educators there whether intentionally or not imprint a left lean bias on there students. The students grow up democrats and then raise there children as democrats and the cycle continues onwards. This is why college educated individuals tend to be Democrats rather then Republicans.
