Forget how amazing he still sounds live. Forget the fact he's past 80 in this clip. Go back and watch his facial expressions, shoulders and arm movements. Think about how many 1000s of time he has sang this and his other hits, night after night, year after year, for over 50 years. He STILL shows major expressions to go with each part of the song. 99.999% of performers just get up there and sing and you wonder if they are just doing it to get a paycheck. Frankie actually puts on a show and gives the audience what they want even though that man has GOT to be tired of all this sometimes. That's the mark of a TRUE entertainer from the old school.

Frankie still has it! In the sad wake of Aretha's passing, I'm cherishing the fact that Frankie is still going strong. He's been sounding better over the last few years than at any time during the late 70s/early 80s (check out some of the performances from then, when I believe he had hearing difficulties). It's clearly 99% him singing live, if not 100%. Who cares if some FX have been added to make the voice sound even better than it already does, it's part of the sound mix, no different to a guitarist using a wah pedal or a synth effect! The important thing is SOUL and Frankie has it in spades! Love the brass section to. Just amazing music, thanks Frankie for the inspiration !

Really, how many people get on stage, let alone sing in their 80s, if they're lucky enough to reach 80yrs?
@SweeTeaNLemon2 жыл бұрын
He's 80+ years old. He loves entertaining. So maybe he can't sing as strong as he use to when he had a great set of pipes. Quite frankly he should've been recognized more than he was back in the day. Bottom line, it's still him on that stage and lip syncing to " his" songs. How many 80 years can do that? He styles his hair so nicely ( he still has great hair), dresses great. Just standing up on stage, moving around, handling the harsh lighting wears a person, even lip syncing takes talent. So to those people complaining- don't watch. Go watch some of these great music performers nowadays that alter ( most) their music so that the singers ( some) can appear to sound as if they can sing. At least Mr. Valli could sing- he had raw unaltered talent. Boy could he sing back in the day, no alterations, just natural talent. So he still likes to entertain, let him. I would pay to go see him and listen to "his own tracks" as he lip syncs!!

first of all if he was lip-syncing I would be pissed off cuz I'm paying for a live performance that's number one. Number two there's no way he is lip syncing you can clearly tell he's not there's too many nuances in the way he's singing there's no way he'd be able to sing right in tune to the music playing in the background it's absolutely him singing.
@HeyMrSamsky3 жыл бұрын
That's just not true. I have literally worked in shows that mixed live music with prerecorded tracks--it doesn't matter if the track is vocal or not, you have people in the band with monitors and they have a click track that plays to the song. There are many inconsistencies in the vocal part vs the mouthing of the words here. There's also many inconsistencies with distance and the proximity to the microphone not being reflected in the vocal track. I have also heard this exact vocal track in another live performance from 2012. The band is playing live to a live click track which keeps everyone on tempo and in sync with the pre-recorded vocal. It is not complex and it is more common than you might think.
