@imvandenh4 жыл бұрын
I'm with you there, sister. Believe it, because Mike Ness is real and still walks the earth among us. He may not be the greatest guitar player or singer ever. I'm nobody but still a much more technically skilled guitar player than Mike is. Thing is, Mike Ness doesn't need to be the best. He is good enough to sing and play his own songs in his own way, and it's his songwriting talent that truly shines. That and his incredible guitar tone, cultivated over years of trial and error. The great ones make music that translates well. It contains relatable messages that are universally understood and appreciated. They cross boundaries and overcome conflicting musical tastes and preferences to be loved and appreciated in spite of boundaries and conflicts. They tell stories that move people emotionally. Songs that stay with people long after they first hear them and make some say to themselves, it's like he wrote this song for me and about me. I know that's definitely the way I feel about many if not most of his songs. They're a gift that keeps on giving year after year. And more than most anything else fear the day that I will not be able to attend a social D show because the man no longer walks among us.

If you have never seen Social Distortion live...well if you live in southern California there are things you need to see at least once..Disneyland The Pacific Ocean and Pacific Coast Highway the Freeway series Supercross Knott's Scary Farm and Social Distortion live at that point you will start to feel some of magic that makes this feel like home...peace home being Orange County then California

I'm only getting into Social distortion within the last year. What I have missed. When will they play in Ireland
@imvandenh4 жыл бұрын
Better late than never. As for them journeying to Ireland, couldn't say. I doubt they will tour internationally until they release a new album. And as I know only too well, they are rather slow in releasing new records over the last two decades. For a taste in the meantime, I highly recommend you check out the album Social Distortion live at the Roxy. I think it was recorded around 1996 at the Roxy in Los Angeles California. It is one of the best sounding live records of all time in my opinion, one of the best Social Distortion albums, and features many of their best loved classic songs. Hope you get a chance to see them live someday. I can say from vast experience that they are my favorite live band and I have never found one of their shows to be less than memorable. I suppose one of the few good things I can say about living in the States these days is that I have been able to see Social Distortion live more than a handful of times, sometimes as close as a 20 minute drive from my house. Funny, I've been asking myself for about the past 10 years when I'm going to come back to Ireland! I honeymooned there with my wife in 1999, also visiting Scotland and England but our time in Ireland was the part of the trip that has stayed with me and I recount stories to friends year after year.
