Happiness can be an elusive thing for anybody, but those who leave religion behind can find it particularly difficult. This life philosophy video will address how to be happy after leaving religion behind, and really, how to find happiness after any period of our life needs to be left behind. In order to answer the question of whether atheists can find happiness, we must discover how anyone can be happy, and finding this personal life philosophy may just be the task of all of our lives.

I wonder about the beginnings of "celebrations of light" in pre-history. Early beings were noticing that the sunlight was getting shorter and grew concerned that it would go away all together. Perhaps they created fires to mimic the Sun. The sunlight of days started getting longer again. Clearly the fires they created worked to bring back the longer days. How many religious traditions originated on just such a fluke? It makes sense to try to understand our lives by putting a shape to them, to harness patterns. But all of these attempts do not create any Ultimate Truths.

Your thoughts are beautiful and I appreciate that you shared all these things. I would like to share my thoughts about this "whenever the question arises in my mind that god exists or not". Honestly, I don't know the answer. Apart from this, I don't have any kind of faith in anything. but I'm happy. and the best advice I can give you is that just read J. Krishnamurti's books. I'm recommending you this not because I'm a follower of J. Krishnamurti. but I know how it feels when you are living a meaningless life, I just want you to be happy. I don't know you but we're all part of this beautiful existence called life.

I really like your point about not being mad at religion. It's good to think about using our freedom to make our lives better, not just being against something.

I was raised extremely religious, but by the time I'd reached the age of about 21, I'd learnt so much about the natural world (biology, astronomy, physics, etc), my psyche just couldn't handle the dissonance any longer. This was followed by a 10 year search for Truth, which lead me down many paths: The Upanishads, The Bhagavad Gita, Advaita Vedanta, Non-duality, Mysticism, Zen, Taoism, Buddhism, The Gospel of Thomas, Rumi, Lao Tzu, Zhuang Zi, Osho, Parmenides, Terence McKenna, Nisargadatta Maharaj, William Walker Atkinson, Manly P. Hall, Gurdjieff, Orison Swett Marden, Samael Aun Weor, Ram Dass, Douglas Harding, David Hawkins, U.G. Krishnamurti, etc. It's been a wonderful journey. 🙏

Can only speak for myself, I realised as a child going to Sunday School that this was just a bunch of stories At about 8 or 9 years old I remember asking my dad if the stuff in the bible was true and whenever I asked my dad something he wouldn't sugar coat it if I wanted to know. He shook his head, "No son it's just stories, like Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy!" I'm so glad I don't carry some crazy ideas about supernatural beings looking over me like my cousin who is an Ex Jehovah's Witness. Keep believing bullshit or pretend to still believe it so as not to be cast out Wtf is that Where's the Christianity there? It's bogus and deserves to be ridiculed because it's ridiculous and baseless. I don't want to even go down the road of the horrors inflicted on kids in most of these patriarchal hierarchical structures No, you're better off acknowledging death, coming to terms with reality of mortality. Let it wash over you. Think like it's your last couple of years left and make them count because you real, you exist, the supernatural being doesn't 😉
