Remember these basic facts; 1) Life is not a competition. 2) Everyone has difficulties. 3) Your value is not determined by the majority. You don't need anything to be happy. Success, money, reputation, power, winning and all other things you're trying to gain are not the way to live in happiness, but that is the path to misery. So let go of these illusions and be yourself to be happy.

Remember the importance of REAL friends. And they don´t need you perfect. Especially not perfect looking. (And imagine to be with one of these "influencers"... Would you want to share a life like that?)

My ex broke up with me to become an influencer. She’s naive, experiences FOMO, and would constantly compare herself to these fake people throughout our relationship. These people are literally creating a factitious life for a phone app. Most of them are unstable and surround themselves with other fake/unhinged people lol

There should be awareness of the abuse of anything. A lot of people realize the hard work it takes to be a social media influencer, guru, persona. But, for people who just dream without action are the vulnerable ones to regard themselves less than.

While Social Media has provided more opportunities for people to put on a facade there are plenty of aspects of social media just as real as in person communication. Ask anyone who has been fired, arrested, got barred from public settings, or lost contact with people through social media post how fake it is. People who "mouth off" behind their keyboard say what the really feel. Point being sometimes (NOT always) people are more real online then in-person. Point is while Social Media is used by people to put on a facade, I believe that saying Social Media is fake is an overstatement.

Social media highlights people's who live above average lives... similar to a highschooler already having successful public speaking career and giving public Ted Talks all before even entering college. The irony.

I only use social media as a resource to buy things or to join Buy Nothing groups where I receive and give free gifts or acts of service. I also use it to call family in other countries. I personally feel like the other side of social media, the toxic side where people only post to boost their egos, is not one that I’m interested in at all. I no longer scroll through anyone’s profile because to be honest I just don’t care. I do love TikTok, but only videos that I can relate to or that I find funny. I don’t like those viral dancing videos where everyone is doing the same dance because it just feels like they’re trying to outdo each other or look better than each other. Again, anything that has to do with an ego boost I’m not particularly interested in because it just doesn’t bring joy to my life and I think it’s kind of boring, I can see right through the reason why they post, and I don’t live my life in a way where I require attention from other people, particularly strangers. Part of me wants to say that all social media is bad, but again, it’s been a great resource for me. I’m glad I can decipher what’s good for me and what isn’t when it comes to those platforms and I hope the same for others.
