@MariaDiazSeguroSocial sounds like a terrible way to resolve a staffing shortage. Pay the employees next to nothing, and force them all to gather in one place. Ruin a million people’s lives per year with this racket. Let them all own assault rifles. Grandpa just lost his house. He has cognitive impairment from age, lead, and lifestyle. I’d sooner enlist in the military. Much less dangerous. Besides, closing these offices and selling them off would do more to plug the deficit than making grandpa homeless.

When I made mistakes on my job, I had to accept accountability for it. Matter of fact, I was made to accept the responsibility. However, when a Social Security worker makes a mistake, the Government holds the recipients responsibility for their employees mistakes. How can that be fair?🎉

This happened to me. I get SSI, and notified them the minute I was told a family member had left me $6,000, which was a total surprise. They didn't even wait until the money got to me. It had to go through channels before it did. They punished me even though I had no idea this was coming, and didn't even have the money. I'm now having to pay them $10 per month until what they claim I was overpaid, is paid back! I now fully understand why people lie to them and get money under the table. They're nasty and negligent. They should be sued for the nightmares they are and cause.

Happening to me right now. My mom signed me up for SSI when I was 17, qualifying because I’m legally blind. Drew payments for less than a year, then took a crap summer job to help pay for college. Following year they cancelled my payments and said I owed them a few thousand. I let them know I had no means to pay. After a few back and forth, didn’t hear from them again. That was 1984. Fast forward to this year when I applied for SSDI because my disability had worsened such that I can’t work anymore. Now, they say I owe them $9k+ because they think they paid me thru 1996. 100% did not happen and I get assumed guilty and have to prove my innocence. Broken system.

This is the case for me and my son he has autism and is given benefits they keep adding overpayments on his account because he receives child support payments on and off. Ssi pays him benefits on the first, but then he receives a child support payment on let's say the middle of the mth, they then say ohh you have a overpayment, THATS NOT RIGHT. This has repeatedly happened and now they have a BIG bill of overpayments on his account! They say it's our fault but how can that be when soon as the child support payment is noticed the document is sent in to them. But because the payment had already been made they throw it back on to us as it's our fault. They set up they have is not right. And someone needs to make them change that, and it shouldn't be put on our back to have to repay the overpayments. They should be forgiven. Because it's not the recipient fault. Social security needs to be investigated about these policy's. For change with them.

Only problem is even if every person earning less than $40,000 gave up their full income it would not remotely match the taxes the top 1% owed if the rate was the same for them as it was for the top 1% in the 1960's.

Government can't figure this out then they expect a group of people who are mainly poor, disabaled and senior citizens to find out and report it?!! In this day and age rely on SS staff to manually calculate benefits with extremly complex rules is crazy! Simplify the program and set the criteria for onging payments based on what can be done automatically and with computer. There are a ton of data from other government agencies and banks are available to feed their system and automtically calculate payments and make the correct amount by end of the month and done with it.

I login to the website and the most important part I need as a representative is broken. Has been for years. All voicemails to our case worker have gone unreturned. Showed up in person at our office and told we have to make an appointment over the phone first. No one will set up our appointment in person and noone will return our calls. Website broken. Stressed out and frustrated waiting for Doomsday.

I received a letter from Social Security telling me I owe $60,000.00. While I was working I reported all my employment and showed all my paystubs and social security never contacted me to tell me I am making more then my benifit n kept giving me the benifit etc...... 😢. Now the social security not only has cut me off from my benifit but also the Medicare. Because of my disability I need to have an ongoing reasonable accommodation n since my social security situation not even a job coach is willing to work with me n no attorney is willing to take my case. I am completely stuck in the dead end. 😢

Those numbers are no good anymore. I was disabled in an accident that for 8.5 years I have been waiting for disability hearing. Turned 65 and was told only the last ten years I worked count to my benefits. 50 years of paying taxes through working they decide I can survive on 700usd a month....before the accident it was almost triple. They stole 50 years of my taxes.

that was my understanding as well. I was well over 40 credits to qualify for social security but because of an accident i was disabled over eight years ago, still waiting on my court hearing for ssi... i was told covid set it back so here we still wait. Because I turned 65 and am still waiting on a hearing, I applied for my SSN because i needed an income, .. that is when I discovered the law changed, and only the last ten years count for my SSN... i've further explored it and asked about the 50 years of taxes i've paid and was told funds are being used for the great numbers of young people filling for disability that haven't had a chance to put in to the system through employment. I was floored. So seniors at poverty level income pay for younger generations benefits. I've warned friends and family approaching retirement age to work to the bitter end ... not to mention medicare charges 174.00 a month, a third of my SSN income awarded to me. @@minhnn

And yet, if you are a student who signed on the bottom line for a loan, you are not responsible and your "forgiven" debt is shoved off on to other taxpayers. Hard to believe that the govt has senior citizens best interests at heart.

There should have been federal legislation written centuries ago, that allowed adopted people to have their adoption nullified. To be emancipated. There should have been legislation in the United States Constitution or in the Bill of Rights or in the Amendments, that allows adopted people to have their adoption nullified. To be emancipated. Regardless of their age. _____ Needed Federal Legislation. Adoption Nullification Act: Allowing adopted people to have their adoption nullified. To be emancipated. Regardless of their age. This would be an Amendment to the Emancipation Proclamation. _____ People are not property. Adoption should not be a form of slavery.

I was adopted. The emotional, mental, physical and verbal abuse started on the first day. I am not disputing the legal system/judge's decision on having me removed from the first group of people. And don't want that custody or authority to be given back to my biological relatives or their relatives. Waiting to have my adoption nullified. To be emancipated. ____ My adopted parents biological son at the age of fifteen started r*ping me, when I was nine years old. _____ The people that adopted me/I was forced to live with have been delaying this trial, for over twenty years. They don't want me to testify against them. They are angry that I contacted the law enforcement. They've been aiding, abetting and protecting a p*dophile. _____ Needed Federal Legislation. Adoption Nullification Act: Allowing adopted people to have their adoption nullified. To be emancipated. Regardless of their age. This would be an Amendment to the Emancipation Proclamation. ____ People are not property. Adoption should not be a form of slavery. I am in need of a lawyer to represent me. I am okay with going to the United States Supreme Court. This is as important as: Brown vs The Board of Education. Had there been federal legislation, I would have had my adoption nullified decades ago. And wouldn't have had to post this information. _____ Why doesn't my birth certificate have the word: Adopted? This should be mandatory for all adopted people. I want to take back my legal birth certificate.

The United States government and judiciary system failed to inform adopted people, upon being adopted their legal problems would begin. Having an adoption nullified, would be similar to divorce laws. Stating abuse, r*pe and incest. Stating irreconcilable differences and conflict of interests.

Don’t see a problem with that you put in you should get back. Where I do have an issue is the illegals being given free hotel, free food, free clothing, free phone, free transport, free health care, free child education, plus pocket money, and just what have they contributed to deserve this? Let me see mmmm that would be nothing.

Fix SSA overpayment claw back. There are not enough employees to keep track of every one. I was talking to DHHS employee one time and they have 1600 people on their case load. That is total B.S. and SSA is in the same boat. I had some questions the other day and they seemed to know nothing about any changes. Zip ! The other year an employee said ( under their breath ) the bank is supposed to be watching this.

Don’t take a benefit designed for people who need money and have to work but are so sick that they cannot. Social Security Disability is not a supplement for low or part time wages. You don’t get to have it both ways. If you can work, no government check. This is the only way to prevent improper payments.
