Hey Brian, I met you in Louisville (2022) talking with you and Brooke at the DJ stage. I've taught this move to a number of dancers. The one thing I tell them is it's not a race and like you said the dancer crossing over needs space , and slowing down allows that, replace each other like in samba dance be it in a square or around the floor. Before I knew what Night Club was I would combine Salsa and Rumba moves for the in between rhythms. 1997 I went to Bob Budzinski's 1st weekend dance and golf in Northern Michigan. It was there I saw the cross over in the basic NC2. Changed everything. I laugh now. Count the years before when I did a rough form of NC2 I've done it for 30 years. For the past several years I taught NC2 on that yearly weekend for Bob until COVID. Then of course Bob passing. RIP Bob. Hope we (and Brooke) cross again in the dance world..

Hey hey! Thanks for the kind words. Yeah I thought it made it easier too. It's always tricky to teach this so hopefully this makes things easier on people. Keep dancing gang!!! -B

I am competing open role, with my instructor following in a comp in a few weeks. Your videos have helped me put together my routine. I knew the basics of leading most of the things, but not all the details. This was one I have lead but not really focused on doing super clean, so this really helped in picturing it. I had specific figures in mind and could find a video with you demoing most of them which helped with figuring out if I was leading it right. Thanks for doing these videos and really breaking down what you are doing. Now to put it all together and show it to him before we compete it... in a week and a half.... lol. (LVDF)

We need this move but how to get into it and out of it. I find often the transitions are more challenging than the move it’s self

Toss Across’s can be started from a closed basic and when you want to get out of the pattern do a running basic back into the basic.

Another way to visualize the "diamond" figure is to think of as alternating right-turning-basic and left-turning-basic steps, each with 3/8 turns instead of 1/2 turns.

YES! That's a great way to think about it. Thanks for sharing. -Brian

We call it four corners.

That would do the trick too! Pattern names are all somewhat regional. Even those of us in my studio don't completely agree on the names sometimes 😂 -Brian
