Took me 10 years to figure out who this band was. 1 of my ex was a punk chick & this was 1 of the many songs she played by these guys. Few months ago when I was on a bender this song shuffled on & I was reintroduced

I’m a 73y/o boomer; my son played guitar in a SD cover band in SF, & turned me on to this song and Story of my Life. I think Ness is a great frontman, guitarist & songwriter. He &SD are Largely unknown and under appreciated by my generation. But IMO they play straight ahead hard rock, and the punk is not overstated, they should be played on indie radio so old people can hear them while they drive

My son also turned me me on to their music. First saw them about 1992 with Neil Young and Sonic Youth. Really cool music!! Can relate to it.

I remember buying this cassette when I was a teenager for this song. They are labeled as a punk band. I disagree a good hard rock band, with a punk swagger and attitude. They are too good musicians to be a punk band.

[Chorus:] You got bad, Bad luck Bad, Bad luck You got bad, Bad luck Bad, Bad luck Thirteen's my lucky number, To you it means stay inside. Black cat done crossed my path, No reason to run and hide. You're looking through a cracked mirror, No one really knows the reason why. Your enemies are gettin' nearer, Gonna hang down your head and cry... [Chorus:] You got bad, Bad luck Bad, Bad luck You got bad, Bad luck Bad, Bad luck Some people go to church on Sundays, Others they pray at home. You tell them that there ain't no God, That they're better off standin' alone. You're always scratchin' at the eight ball, No one really knows the reason why. You get to the top and then you fall, Gonna hang down your head and cry

To the 125 that didn't like this song - Piss off. I'm glad you didn't like it. I don't have to worry about crushing your toes under my heel at a concert. It's better if the "shinny happy people" that fart roses and poodles don't show up and breath our air! Mike Ness and Social D were punk before it became "cool" to be punk and that didn't change their music or them. Their music is real, too real for anyone that hasn't lived life yet. So, I Can't Even Remember What Movie It Was Now Since I Spent The Next Two Nights Glued To KZbin Absorbing As Much Mike Ness & Social D As Humanly Possible. But I Heard Bad Luck Either In The Soundtrack Or End Credits & HAD TO KNOW, Who Was Playing & Singing That Song ??? It Sank The Hook In Deeeep, I Had To Find It & Know Who Sang It ??? Turns Out It's Social Distortion ??? Whaaaaat ??? So I Says To Myself "Self, Isn't That Some Shitty Punk Band" ?? "Self" Said "Nope, You Might Wanna Give These Guys A Listen" !!! So I Said "OK, Self" !!!! WTF !!! 2 Nights & No Sleep, Up On KZbin All Night, Both Nights & Now I'm 9 CD's Deep Off eBay !!! Mike Ness & Social Distortion Haven't "Really" Been "Punk" Since The 80's. He Got Too Talented To Stay In Such A Small Genre So He Created His Own Niche. God Only Knows What It Is, But It's Definitely NOT Simply "Punk" !!! So After I Watched Hella Vids & "The Pursuit Of Tone" I Watched "A Different State Of Mind" From 1982/84. When Mike Was Real Young & Real Punk & It's Unbelievable, The Guy Who That Kid From Back Then Turned In To ??? The Cars,The Guitars, The Radios, & Culture Memorabelia Is All Incredible. So Yup, New Fanboy Of "Mike Ness" & "Social D" 4 Life However Long That's Gonna Be, Did I Mention That I'm 60 & Have A Few Health Issues Goin' On ??? So There's That But At Least I've Got 9 Discs On The Way So Looking Forward To That !!! My Mom Would've Loved You Being A Gibson Goldtop Lover. For Her 10th Birthday In 1953 My Grandparents Bought Her, A Used Or Leftover 1952 Gibson LP Goldtop. Hers Was One Of The 10% ALL GOLD Instead Of Just The Face. The Back, Sides, & Neck Were All Gold Too. I Know The 52' Has The "Trapeze" Bridge That Makes It Impossible To Mute Strings With The Meaty Side Of Your Palm But Evidently All Her Life Of Playing It & With Our Church Choir, She Must Never Have Needed To Mute The Strings For Her Type Of Playing. Mike Ness is the Timeless Alpha Male. No matter the time period, he never looks out of place, always remains cool, stylish, and authentic. Plus, it never hurts to have a voice that sounds like someone scraping bark off a tree with a pocket knife.

Great rock & roll song, if it don't got that swing, it don't mean a thing.
