In my honest opinion, Mike Ness is one of the most underrated song writers, and Social Distortion is one of the most underrated bands, of all time. This mans words, and the bands delivery of those words, have touched so many over the years. Countless lives have been saved by the blessing that is Social D.

Absolutely agreed. Recently my girlfriend of 9 years ended things quite abruptly, and for that first month or so I listened almost exclusively to Social D and Cheating At Solitaire more specifically. The emotion Mike puts into his songs helps me remember I'm not the only one out here that has been hurt.

the one I love Social Distortion, first saw them in 85 when I was 16, I’m 50 now. They are one of my all time favorite. But I was a little disappointed with Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes. I really hate the female choir back up singers on it. Not my thing.

Well, they have essentially been re-writing the same song for 40 years. hhehe. I like them. But it must be very boring to play in SD. Maybe that is why the lineup has changed so much. Same chord progression, over and over again. Mike just changed the key and vocal melody. The chord progression doesn't even change in their choruses, in most cases. They will just palm mute the verses and then let the chords ring in the choruses. 'Hey dude, we need to write a new song'. ..."okay man, put a capo on the 2nd fret'.

I've been fortunate enough to see them at least a dozen times, plus Mike solo stuff. It doesn't get as much play at the shows in the last decade or so, but I was fortunate enough to see them about 26/27(?) years ago, and the opening band was Pegboy.... To this day one of the greatest punk shows I've ever been to in my life. And when this song came on and that guitar rips started in the drums, the went from being just the pit to about five times the size because the entire place went insane. Maybe that's why they don't play it in the last decade or so anymore, because all us fans are too old and would get moshed to death! Hahaha hahaha

I agree,..nothing like the good ol days,....although now,...28 years,..give or take 25 or so,..kidding,..i mean my y0u tube is practically complete from adding multiple bands,.because I still very much enjoy and listen to the same stuff! as Im sure you as well and others for that matter,..although,...as I was saying,..being of that energy type,..see punk rock was never a phase,..it was finding what we identify with,..period and if it faded away,..it was never you to begin with,..that one was just a poser! anyway,.....now a days,...the music mix is simply added to with new music that fits punk rock,..my perception anyway,...that fits its meaning,..energy,..constitution i guess. Bands like Marilyn Manson,..Disturbed, White Strips,..Hell even Evanescence ! although some of these new additions ( I ) will only repetitively play and choose to listen to some,..most or 1 or 2 of their collection,...example,..9inch nails,..Trent has like 500 FN songs it seems,..and most sound the same! so I cant deal with that but some of the songs are killer,..like the remix of Johnny Cashes Empire or Darts song,...fucking killer! and a few more,...Manson seems to have that vision that is so rare,...you know,..he was a nerd,..got picked on,..this seclusion and anger allowed him to see the hypocrisy and bullshit,..really,..that plagues sociable society,..blinds them actually,..if their isn't a problem,..then why fix it sort of thing,..so,..Manson developed vision,...and The Beautiful People was conceived,...DAM KILLER SONG! Disturbed,...The Game,..holly fuck! way killer tune,... Ebinesince,..dam,..some nice shit there really,...but Tool,..well,...in my opinion,..as others i know,..all of their music is simply,..fn the shit,...league of their own for shur,..hope this helps inject your medicine,..for the good ol music days,..I know I missed it before and felt abandon,..lost,..and pissed at times,..although ,...just keep in mind that the recognition of bullshit,..or just good ol music from original thinkers,...like social d,..still and will always be alive somewhere,....Hell NOFX is still kicking some killer funny shit,..Bad Religion,...Misfits reunion every now and again and play the SAME OL SHIT,...i dont know,...bsd religion ,,league of their own too,...killer shit ,...highly energetic,...hell ya,...good talking to you,..been forever to even talk to an ol school ,...you know,..before Green Day,...hahahahahhh,...hey that reminds me,...
