Socializing in FFXIV - How to make friends!

I'm really new to ff14 and mmos in general, about 2 weeks in and one my favorite aspects is socializing. I had two players I was connecting with while waiting in queue and we got separated when the duty started. When I went back to town to turn in my quest I seen those same two players and it put the biggest dumb smile on my face haha. Loving 14.

Another thing I'm loving how connected the ps5 controller makes you feel. The audio is perfectly matched with each foot step with haptic feedback walking in dirt feels different than walking on stone, same for carpet, etc. I was in my menus sorting out gear and as another player was running by I could feel there steps intensify as they approached me and fade away as they ran by. It really adds to the immersion of this already immersive game.

Treat people how you'd like to be treated. The world (IRL) would be a better place. So great to jump into this game and find out how nice people can be. The internet is a very toxic place, but not in Eorzea. Been playing for 2 weeks now and loving every minute. Already played 140hrs, because I can't get enough. Hope I get to see you both in game when patch 5.8 drops with the Data centre's being interlinked. I'm from the UK, but have weird sleep patterns due to my Meds, so should be on with America is awake...lol

I got FF XIV about a year ago from my daughter and was a little overwhelmed for a while. I started watching Amisometimes' streams (whom Moody raided and visits) and saw "spoilers" for content I hadn't played yet and it looked fun, so I slowly got pulled more and more into the world. It's been such a nice thing to have Eorzea to escape to when stressed, especially with people like Ami and Moody, who I was introduced to via Ami. I would say that this is one of the most welcoming groups in any game that I have played, including Pokemon and Animal Crossing. On occasion there is a sour apple, but they usually get dealt with by the rest of the party pretty fast. I have definitely lost hours of sleep staying "just a bit longer" and dreaming of FF. This video was so nice to watch and gave really great tips. Definitely recommend the game for anyone that like FF, MMOs, Role-playing, being a cat, or any other reason. You have glams is you like to play dress up; there are houses if you like decorating; crafting and gathering; and you can play *ALL* of the classes on one character (or almost all if you're on the FREE trial *cough*).

Tonight was my first night in final fantasy and had an amazing time. Multiple people chatted with me while questing and it was so wholesome. My husband and I feel like it’s a breath of fresh air compared to the wow community over these past few years. Can’t wait to play more ^_^

Hi there! Awesome video. I'm fairly new to MMOs. Started with ESO and it was very overwhelming. Decided to give FF14 ago since I've been a fan of the FF series for a long time but was too chicken to start another MMO. Anyways I've been playing for about 2 months or so and the community is great. I main as a Tank and my experience has been positive for the most part. This community is awesome and I'm glad I gave the game a chance.

Made the mistake of running a dungeon as a healer when I was sleepy. I kept nodding off and I didn't want to leave them hanging.Party was NOT happy with me that time. But usually people are pretty cool.

Seriously, I was new to healing and jumped a 50. (Had lvld a summoner so had the scholar hanging around.) I felt like an absolute dick that we wiped but all were super supportive and kind. This game is wonderful and the players make it soo good.

Ik this is an old video but how do i deal with my irl gf haveing alot of guys attracted to her and she spending 10+ hours with those ppl just talking and sitting around at the fc ive started playing with her but she doesnt seem enthused about me playing the game

I recommend talking to her about how you feel and see if she is willing to give you more attention. Don't be controlling. Just talk it out and have open communication.

Is there a way to block or disable free company invites. I don't like logging in only to be spammed by free company invites. I tend to play solo or with people I know. Sometimes it makes me feel like I'm a jerk for declining. But coming from WoW, I've always felt an invite should be preceded by a PM.

Not that I know of. The best solution I found online is to make your own FC (you need 3 other people at first) and then kick everyone else out. The perk is being able to use the FC storage chest as extra personal storage. Honestly I don't know if this would work because I haven't tried it myself.

@@LucidFaith Thanks for the reply. And yeah not too fond of the idea of making a FC only to kick people. That would be a bit of a jerkish thing to do it seems.

Hey @LucidFaith I'm almost max level 80 for my first class, a whm. I was wondering if there's any content unlocked at that point I should look to explore. Any tips? Think there's enough to mention for a new video?

I think that would be a great video and it is something I need to explore more myself! For level 80 content specificly, there is the Eden Raid Series. It is a group of 12 raids (eight person group) with an interesting story! There are also the 24 person alliance raids. These are a crossover with the Nier games. For level 70-80 content there is the Bozja area. I haven't touched it myself so I can't provide any insight. I hope this helps!

You need to learn the difference between social anxiety (a REAL mental health issue that you need profesional help) and whatever nonsense your are talking about in this video. I'm fairly sure that you have made up this social anxiety game issue, as we have no useful research on the topic. In the first few weeks of playing, the only time I've seen anyone saying anything is gold spammers or GG stuff after a dungeon run, but the people exit the dungeon before one can respond. I'm a few 100 xp from getting several level 90 jobs. So my experience so far is that there is no social element in the game at all. If you are an established player with 3000 linkshells and a big FC, then the experience might be different, but say and even pickup party chat is completely and utterly dead.
