Someone comes outside to join them, perhaps brings a few friends. They all have their own private little party, out there where the music isn’t too loud and the crowd isn’t suffocating. Those not bothered by the noise take turns running back in for refreshments. By the end of the night, the group of friends has a new member.

It is Friday night. The couple in the next apartment told you earlier they were having a party, said the music would be loud and late, but they didn't invite you. All evening a mix of early 2000s recapture-the-glory-of-college rock bleeds through the shared sheetrock and too thin insulation, accompanied at times by the random titter and exclamation bending around the balcony divider, bouncing off the parking lot below into your closed bedroom window. Just about the time when you are on your fourth glass of wine, trying to find answers to question of why you are feeling left out at the bottom of your wine glass, the crest of midnight approaching, this exact sound comes through the living room wall. And you feel like an answer has been revealed to you, not the answer of the question you seek but of something else that was important to you once, though now no longer.

A lot of others are saying they feel left out, but this feels comforting and reassuring to me. The world we're in now is so different from when this was posted. One month away from being 7 years old. People had parties back then, with loud music. Then we got to 2020 and the pandemic, and while the pandemic is over things haven't gotten better. They're getting worse and worse. And this takes me back to a time when people had those wild parties with loud music. It makes me feel that while the world may be bad it could always be worse. If people can bring themselves to have parties and loud music, things can't be as bad as they seem.

This song echoed through your head as you lied on the floor of the bedroom. The song ached through the house and all you wanted to do was act like you weren't here. Was it even fair that you had to experience the feeling of taunting like that. Tears were your only instinct that would register to you. The floor was cold and you didn't care. You wept with warm tears that tried their best to warm your face a your blood couldn't do it since it drained from your face over these past minutes. You hear knocking and you lie motionless. She walked in and lied down with you just holding your hand and listen to the song with you. Everything would be alright.

You've snuck out your house to go to a party where they're playing this really loudly. You're a little tipsy, and so is the girl/guy you like. They pull you outside , and under the stars, you have your first kiss. The walls aren't the only thing that's muffling the sound, your hearbeat is loud in your ears ... They drown out the noise. You're happy at last.

HOW IS THIS MAKING EVERYONE FEEL SO MANY THINGS
@frozendogfood6 жыл бұрын
I thought about sharing my prom experience with you all and maybe it'll shed light on how much I love/hate this song. Here you go: I want to go home. It's prom night. My friends are all having fun inside, and I just need a goddamn breath. I step outside because I can't take it anymore. Seeing everyone dancing so damn happily without a single worry or care is nauseating. And I see her. Dancing with him. I can't take it. My breathing is getting harder and I can barely walk straight. I step outside for a while but my friends trace me down and find me in front of the fountain. They ask me what's wrong but I just tell them I needed some fresh air. They know I'm lying. They tell me I'll be alright, and to come back inside when I'm ready. But I'm not alright. I'm far from alright. I haven't been for two fucking months. Moments later, I hear a familiar tune playing behind me. I know what song it is. As the opening guitar riff rips through the night, I hear teenage voices yell out loud in unison as they began to all sing along. " None of them even understand it," I tell myself," they don't even know what this song's about. They've never felt this way before and they never will." I continue to judge the others from the outside, as the song continues on. I can't stand it. This whole night has gone to shit. I show up an hour late, I'm super underdressed, and now my ex is happily having the best night of her teenage life with someone else. I can't fucking stand it. But I need to face the facts. This is my last chance to make someone of myself. I run back inside as the vocalist gets ready for his last lines of the song. " I can make it," I say to myself," I can show her who I really am." As I rush back in through the open doors, I rush towards the center of the dancefloor, where I see them on the side. They're arm in arm, happily smiling and gazing into each other's eyes. I didn't make it. Everything tunes out. I can't hear anything. It's like a movie scene, but worse. I didn't make it. The neon lights are flashing over my face, but I don't blink or even bother looking away. And as the voices around me sing me out, I realize that this is the worst night of my life. " I never," I say to myself," I never."

My scenario. A girl lives below her crush in an apartment complex. The first time they played their playlist over their speakers, she realized that they have similar music tastes. But, she lives with a cranky roommate that won't let her play her music loud on her speakers. So when she hears the music coming from upstairs, she insists to rock out to it. Little does she know, her crush is also rocking upstairs to it, dancing around just like she is. So its basically like they are there together and rocking out to their favorite music. But her roommate is pissed off at her crush, and forwards many noise complaints to the building manager, who after some time, decides to kick them out of the apartment. The girl is crushed, knowing that her crush is leaving and that she won't have those through roof dance parties anymore. So when her crush is leaving the apartment for the final time, she stands by their car with her speakers and blasts the one song that her crush always listened to, Mr.Brightside. When her crush gets to their car, they see her and are confused. She tells them the whole story, and they smile. Before they leave, they hand her the Hot Fuss CD. She is confused because she always thought that they just used their phone. Before she could ask them, they drive off. She opens the CD case and inside, the CD is signed and there is a note that says: "I had lived in that apartment for 2 years before you moved in. The first night I heard you move in, I also heard you play Mr.Brightside on blast. But it was only that night. After that, I never heard you play any music again. I was never one to blast songs out of my speakers, but after that night, I did. And I made sure to always play Mr.Brightside whenever I did it. Call me at xxx-xxxx "

"I really like this song," you say, just in passing, indifferent. But he smiles really big. "Oh man, The Killers are fucking amazing." He replaces the cigarette in his mouth and hums along to the brilliant swell of the sawtooth synth, faint so far outside the house. "Cool. Yeah. I haven't heard a lot of their songs but 'Mr. Brightside' is the best." You feel keyed-up and nervous but also super at-peace all at the same time...Like, this is the first time you've ever really talked to him outside of "how are you/good, busy/same/yeah" and you feel like you're nailing it. But at the edge of your mind you're afraid he'll see. He'll see how gappy your teeth are and how stupid your polo looks and oh God the puka shell necklace and bracelet, you look like Abercrummy and Bitch threw up on you...Stop, stop beating yourself up like this, or he'll see how much you hate yourself and nobody wants to date that kind of a shambling hot mess, Jesus-- "I have the Hot Fuss CD. You can borrow it. I'll bring it Monday." You smile, and you think your smile is trembling a little after that anti-pep-talk you just gave yourself, but you manage to say, "Awesome, thanks!" His brows knit together as he looks down at the curb you're sitting on for a second. Shit, are you boring him? "Awesome, thanks!" That's not, like, anything to even respond to. Quick, think of something else... "Or you could just come over to my place. Monday. After school. Or whenever. And we could listen to it..." "Yeah"--you quickly swallow the suffocating lump in your throat--"I'm free Monday." But for now, he just smiles again, and the two of you let the music drift by, the lyrics full of pain but also of a strange excitement pulled taut. A sense of hope, renewal, is somewhere in that song, too, as the final guitar riff closes it out. I'm Mr. Brightside.

Then he pulls out his full length katana from his bag. "Do you like it? I am trained in the ancient arts." You nod. Taken aback by his strength and manliness. "Sometimes when I am alone I pretend to be a butanka warrior. A butanka warrior fights for their girl. A butanka warrior proteccs his princess." He says assertively while gazing into your eyes. You feel something deep inside. A sense of awe and admiration for this man you once thought to be a mere boy. He pulls you close and holds your hand in his strong large palm. "If there are any Killers out there I will protect you my love. For I have the power of god an anime on my side." then you kiss and go home and make the sex he sees your vagene and bobs.

This gives me such a feeling of loneliness and utter boredom, I often listen to it and become strangely depressed for random reasons, and I can confirm that the feeling really resembles what it's like to be depressed and too tired and overall empty or devoid of motivation or any comprehensible emotuons.

idk why but i imagine myself in the future, crying on the other side of a wall, hearing this from the other side. it's me, right now, on the opposite side of future me. future me is crying because, i made it out, i made it out of the living hell that is the present. maybe future me is happy, if so, good job danika.

This is the equivalent of my dad standing outside of my room, intentionally wanting to call me for dinner, but he stops because hes recognizing the song, he stands in shock wondering how I even know these songs, since he had previously done the same when he was younger, older than me, but still young, he decides to leave me as I dance in my room, crying and laughing, enjoying the moment, singing some words I dont even know, oh what a night it is, oh what a night it could be, oh a night I wish could be more common

Everyone is putting some really sad stuff in the comments but I have a positive scenario: The party’s going on inside but you’re not there. You found a nice area in the house’s backyard. You’re talking to someone you just met at the party and it’s striking how much you want to spend the rest of your life with them.

When I was a kid, too young to drink but old enough to have a fake i.d. we had a place just outside of town, it was an old grocery store, regardless, half of it was a bar with pool tables and what not and the other half was indoor glow in the dark mini golf. Not really glow in the dark that's just what they called it but alot of it was u.v. paint and black lights. The only thing that separated the bar and golf course was a thin wall and in some places just a glass door. If you were real quiet in the golf course around the 15th hole on the weekend you could hear the band next door. I remember many songs playing from being that wall that sounded just like this. I don't reckon I'll ever forget that so long as I roam this earth.

POV: You go to the public pool with your crush. They know you like them and they like you back. You guys flirt the whole time and get close to kissing many times but you never actually do. You guys are about to leave so you go through the locker rooms to get changed. You come out of your separate stalls at the same time, facing each other. The locker room’s completely empty except for you two. You look into each other’s eyes and you notice Mr Brightside by The Killers is playing. It’s slightly faded but you can still hear it blasting from outside. “Jealousy,” you hear the music. You kiss them. They kiss you back. You’ve never kissed anyone before but that was the best second of your life. You both walk out of the locker room like nothing even happened, but everything happened. You’re happy. Like never before. You’ve never felt like this before. You get a stomachache from the butterflies. It’s sickening but you love it. You rewind what happened in your head. You can’t get them off of your mind. You hear the song coming to an end. It’s satisfying but you’re sad. The moment you had is over and you’ll never experience it again. You look at them, you both smile. You feel better. You’re in love. (Haha this happened to me😭)

this just describes the average teenage years, featuring: toxic relationships, depression, plastic love, bullying, feelings of worthlessness, anxiety, crying, crying yourself to sleep, crying for no reason, crying for hours on end, suicidal thoughts, self harm, and this all wraps it up into a depressed little bundle. I LOVE IT.
