How can Sati be considered rational in any way.. Isnt Sati a Traditional Action? and not a rational in relation to a value action?? 29:50
@vivekcsss8 жыл бұрын
Sati is a rational action related to value. Sati is performed for achieving a value ..just like a captain of the Ship prefers to drown himself rather saving his life as the it is held in high esteem of supreme sacrifice .

soldier laying his life would also be emotional action through patriotic emotions

Royalmexxx these people are those public intellectuals who attain expertise in humanities to justify the corrupted indigenous social structure and dream to reestablish the anti-socialist values of ancient india against their marxist counterpart. you're right from the humanity context...Sati cant be a rational action as a women was not to be blamed or praise in relation to her husband's death. but our society used to think She and only she got the only reason behind her spouse's demise or whatever malific occured in the man's life thus its all Traditional. i see no stint of reasoning or rationalism in this practice.

@@vivekcsss women are drugged and pushed into sati act. It is a patriarchy in action to deprive women of property. Pl get your politics right.

1.in many a cases we find that the widows were forced to burn themselves along with the pyre of her husband. so it cannot be put in the category of 'rational action based on values". if the widow girl chooses it with her own will then it will be called as rational action based on values. 2. how office work could be a vocation? i think its more of a compulsion thing..isn't it sir?

I was enjoying the session until the professor used the example of Sati as an exemplary social action. Cannot believe that a well educated man can be so regressive.
@infinity_shows_1492 жыл бұрын
Different meaning Are being attached with a social phenomena. It might be regressive to you, but not to him. And even I support him. Just like soldiers give life in devotion to nation, married women gave life in devotion to husband. I find, today’s crude notion of equality and sexual objectification in the name of women empowerment, extremely regressive. 🙂
