Nice meeting you, Luke. I appreciate you letting me participate. I was having a pretty bad round that day, but just a few holes later, I got my first ever ace (hole 13), by throwing a DX Firebird forehand. Was it because you had me throw these forehand approach mids on 10? Who's to say? Hope to see you around. - Jon

These kinds of reviews are so much more helpful than any one person sharing their thoughts. Seeing regular players throw them is far better information than the ad-like throws when pros or strong players do. Thanks.

While the discs are similar (thumb track) I feel like its a bad comparison for the two. Ricky has the Harp and uses it to do all the things he did with the Pig, and ironically, did with the Harp before the Pig. Ricky specifically wanted a less glidy Harp, dumb overstable like a Justice, for shots inside of 150 feet that could handle any wind and was torque resistant. The old retired run of slammers were simply not deep enough or overstable enough, he said. The Sockislammer is very close to just being a slammer top and a Harp bottom. It was tooled slightly more than that, but it feels almost exactly like a Harp in my hand, plus a thumb track. Definitely not made to be a Pig replacement in his bag, I think we just assume it is and try and compare them as such.
@jerekoberholtzer32962 жыл бұрын

I didn’t even know I was watching a Mainer! Having a majority of the courses on private land with a greens fee takes most of the courses to a completely different level. Nothing like the smell of fresh wood chips walking down the fairway. Woodland Valley in Limerick is a top notch course. I think Maine needs a major event. I mean cmon, Cranberry Valley in Turner and Sabattus Disc Golf. Maine has epic disc golf.

I was so excited to get my hands on the ricky slammer and after about 10 throws I gave up on it. for forehands its nearly impossible to get a clean release it is the deepest depth disc I have thrown ever. if you dont have big hands stay away from this disc IMO.

i've been throwing the Slammer and have hit some trees with it and it has gotten chewed up. I think it is a Classic Supreme blend being of the putter type which is unfortunate. The Pig is made out of the Champion/Star Glow mix if I understand it correctly which makes sense why it doesn't get tore up.

It should be noted that a faster break in period for such an overstable disc is actually desirable. Cycle in several of either model in various stages of stability.

For some reason it seems the trilogy orbit whatever plastic (opto, supreme, ...) is often like a softer coating a top of another plastic. I had flashing on the Slammer which I bought for giggles and when sanding it down it quickly went through the soft rubber and underneath was just whatever plastic the disc otherwise is. And same goes with my ice orbit Pure. Flashing, sand down, where did the top layer vanish. They're pretty but don't seem durable, the trilogy has some minor flashing issues.

I throw pigs and slammers. Pro pigs beat in to straight or even understable fairly quickly and goes farther. Slammer will keep it's stability much, much longer throughout it's life. Easier to shape shots with a pig, but a slammer gives larger margin for error on upshots due to being predictably overstable, and sticking where it lands slightly better than a pig.

I've held and thrown both, it feels like the slammer doesn't have as much weight in the rim like the pig does and I think that's where the extra glide comes from but I don't make discs just throw them. However have you guys tried throwing the new 4 speed mid range pig? It's even more stable than the 3 speed so you can put a lot of torque behind it without the disc turning over. Actually got my first throw in from 150'+ two days ago with my new pig

@@batjeep5ter947 the new Pig mid-range is not any different then the “old” P&A Pig. They just changed the classification to a 4 speed. The tooling, plastics, and mold are the exact same. Edit: grammar
@batjeep5ter9472 жыл бұрын
@@discreviewforyou5255 I haven't had my 3 speed pig more than a month and the 4 speed certainly flies more stable so I don't know what's different but it most definitely handles my forehand better than the 3 speed but im just speaking on my own experience
@discreviewforyou52552 жыл бұрын
@@batjeep5ter947 there is always variances in disc manufacturing, thus leading to different flight characteristics for the same mold. And new plastic always flies more overstable. I’m not saying your 4 speed stamped pig isn’t overstable. I’m just saying it’s the same mold and tooling, meaning they didn’t change anything about the disc except the stamp and classification.

I was hoping for a video of someone familiar with these types of discs who could actually throw well, whether forehand or backhand doesn't matter. Someone who could compare the flights and get a forehand out there that didn't wobble out of the hand. That's not what this video is.
