If this weapon got a unique buff in 1.4.5, i want to see it have the ability to apply debuffs based on what debuff flask you have active. It would be super fun to coat an entire crowd in toxic piss gas or in poisoned confetti. Also it just makes sense for a mad scientist throwing potions like snowballs in a snowball fight to be mixing their chemicals

amazing idea, i usually carry the Piss Book (golden shower) the whole game after hard mode for the debuff when i play mage but being able to get a sort of upgrade to it would be really cool

The flask is actually QUITE good in the post-Plantera Dungeon! It can stunlock most enemies in there, and the limited quarters seem to make the clouds deal more damage. Perfect for if you're trying to get an Inferno Fork, admittedly, but still.

I've very effectively used the Flask on Penguin's server in PVP, where everybody has 200 ping, and when you hit a player, he stays inside the gas for so long that you just oneshot everybody. With such high ping the knockback starts very late, but all the damage comes through quickly, it was OP in pvp

I like the Toxic Flask because it's a weapon that says "Hey, you don't always have to have an optimal build. You don't need to always use the top tier stuff. It's okay to, you know, have fun." And that's what it is. A weapon for you to have fun messing around with, not to blitz right to the next progression point.

They should make it so that the gas cloud applies the tier 2 poison effect, and maybe have the glass shards from the bottles act as caltrops? Could even apply bleed to double down on the damage over time.

I absolutely loved using this weapon for so many things. When used with the spectre armor, and specifically the mask, the damage output can be insane, it singlehandedly helped me up to wave 15 of the pumpkin moon!

It's also good to remember that the toxic flask is easier to hit than the inferno fork, as well as that the inferno fork knock enemies back out of its continuous damage quite often. I still would prefer the Inferno Fork though.

Though this would be a strange rework, I think moving the Toxic Flask to pre-plantera solar eclipses with just a slight damage nerf would make it way more relevant in progression. The pulse bow got a similar treatment to this and it came out successful.

It's a shame cuz I love the look and SFX for this weapon. It'd be cool if it had some kind of unique effect like applying a 2 or 3 random debuffs from a large pool of possible effects, sorta like the Zapinators do. Some unique effects could be anti-gravity, shrinking/enlarging the target, or transforming the enemy into a fly once they reach a certain % of HP. This could at least make it stand out, and perhaps with some rebalancing to the numbers as well, make it have a better identity within progression.

I don't know If this ist still the Case but the Cloud from the flask used to Go through Blocks wich was fairly helpful During events allowing you to stay in a Box and damage enemies that got Close to you similar to the death sicle

This was actually rather funny weapon in a modded terraria. Yes I know it doesn't really count but there was a mod that allowed toxic flask to benefit from throwing weapon buffs and lit me tell you this things gets stupid the moment you start throwing thing at 3x the normal rate with it's area knockback pretty much making it impossible for most thing's to actually get to you

Fun little combo I like to use with it is spectre armor with the healing hood you get so much healing against targets like golem and events and since the healing hood heals others in multiplayer it's kind of like playing support

This weapon goes hard with the spectre armor with the mask on since it deals multiple hits in short period amount of time, it would proc the set bonus of the spectre armor a lot of times too

Eclipse weapons pre-plantera are really useful agaisnt plantera when fighting, since normally you just circle her when fighting to dodge her bullets, she becomes vulnerable for weapons like the Reaper scythe and the Toxic flask I don't usually play as mage, but when I do, I always look for this weapon to fight her, it is very underated

I think a use time buff would make a big difference and maybe making the cloud bigger too if its gonna have less base damage than the inferno fork i think its a fair for less damage

It's okay. Throwing out a single cloud for some extra DPS and then switching back to your main spell works decently in some scenarios. The knockback cloud in some invasions to block off a spot to give me a few seconds to adjust was very helpful. A good mage doesn't just spam one spell, he has a hotbar full of magic and swaps as needed.

Got it once in a journey playthrough (I was melee) but still tested it. It’s actually pretty good, but the high mana cost made me not use it as I could only fire it once after using a star crystal then needing to fully reload mana (and the fact i was melee)

The only thing that this weapon needs is the increased lingering time of the fumes. With that, it will be one of the most interesting The Destroyer Bullying tool along with Crimson Rod and Nimbus Rod.

I found more use with this weapon whenever I play mage because the fast projectile speed for events/crowds compared to the Inferno Staff. Though the numbers tend to not lie

It does have something going for it that the other weapons you mentioned don’t have; the ability to arc shots over things. With some practice, you can role play a WWI mortar team, lobbing toxic gas over hills to hit enemies from behind cover.

I actually want to see Terraria create an entirely new class type and rework this weapon into it. Something like an 'assassin' or 'poisoner' class that specializes in Damage over Time effects. Make it so that the armor sets and accessories for it apply DoT effects to weapons, but then have it amplified for class related weapons like the Toxic Flask. Or, at the very least give this a stronger poison DoT effect on its own, y'know?

honestly if the damage got buffed, even by 5 or 10, i might use this weapon, as its projectile speed is higher then the inferno fork, meaning that it is easier to hit faster moving enemies or bosses

You missed one point that made flask as good as infernno against mimics, its knockback, flask can be stacked, while inferno will push enemies away

There's just not enough going on with the flask to make it worth using. The idea is solid but its just aoe damage without any extra benefit compared to the already plentiful amount of already existing mage weapons that do that better that you can find post plantera, especially if you're looking for weapons for boss killing.
