Hi everyone!! It’s been a few years since I posted this video and it fills my heart to the brim to know that so many of you found some sort of relief from, not only mine, but people’s experiences with back braces in the comments. Every now and then I come back here and I just want to hug my past self and all of you guys, and reinforce the statement that it does end, and one day I’ll all be a thing of the past. So thank you, all of you. 💞💞

I hope you’re doing better now 💕! Personally I had my first back brace when I was like 5 and a half because my angle was starting to get REALLY bad for my young age. Now I’m 15 and still have to wear one ( hopefully not for too long anymore) and honestly it was so much easier when I was younger because I’m so much more insecure about it now… But seeing all the comments makes me realize that I’m not the only one so thanks for sharing your personal stories !!

@@elisebeauchot2446 hiiii!!! FIVE?!?! oh my gods. you’re stronger than me, and I get the insecurity thing, especially during those young teen years -it’s tough. But agreed, every time someone comments sharing their own personal struggles has really helped me to feel less alone. So thanks for commenting, love 💞💞

You have no idea how happy that makes me. I repeat myslef so many times when replying to comments because I always say this, but for me the hardest part wasn’t the pain. It was the loneliness. So I’m very glad I could help ❤

I'm kinda late but, anyways, thank you so much for having the courage to make this video. Not only for the girls who have or may watch this, but also for me. I've stopped wearing a brace last year too, and those two years were hell. I never talked about it with anyone, and, because everyone I knew that wore one had handled it quite well, I was always so mad at myself for being so affected by it. Never really searched about it until recently, and the few videos i've watched on this topic (because honestly I just want to forget) were always so positive and like, "love yourself and love your body, no need to be self-conscious..." so they made me feel like i really overreacted. Imagine my surprise when I come across this and listen to someone verbalize almost exactly how I felt (something that not even I manage to do) and what my experience was. Now I can actually say that it was a bit of physical and mental torture without feeling bad about it. You've adressed literally everything, even the impact it has on a teenager who's still trying to discover themselves. So thanks again for making this video even if it would only reach one person. (Sorry if this isn't written well, i'm portuguese) Whish you all the best!!

omggg no matter how many comments I read on this video they always make me cry. I understand how you feel because everyone is always so bent on portraying a positive mindset but the reality is that no matter how much you try to make the most of a bad situation, you have all the rights to be sad, angry, or hateful. On the topic of overreacting, its so easy to compare your troubles to everyone else's, especially cus nowadays you are exposed to so much, but you have to realise that someone else's problems don't diminish yours. Im so happy I could help. I wish YOU the very best, and that you for commenting ♥ (ps; ur English is excellent don't worry)

I never comment on KZbin, but I really want to do it now. You made me cry, literaly, and it’s the best thing that could happen in my day. I really want to thank you because, even if there are a lot of content about scoliosis on KZbin today (especially in France, I don’t know why), you are the only person that really related with what I have. It’s my first day with the back brace, and I really need it (last x-ray at 50°) but I just can’t wear it, really, neither during sleep, nor during day/being seated, it’s really impossible, while all the other people are saying that it’s all good after a few hours. I hope it will be better with the days, but for now, it’s a disaster. Sorry for my bad english, and still thank very much for this video.

hiiiiii!!!! im so glad I could help. I always always always repeat myself but truly the only reason I made this video was to help people feel less alone in their journey because of how isolated I felt at the time. at the beginning it truly is terrifying, especially because you think its gonna last a lifetime. Thank you for the comment it means the world to me ( et t'inquiète pas ton anglais et parfait, bisouss)

My curve is about 27 degrees and I have to wear a back brace. I've been wearing it for 2-3 months at this point and it still sucks Only 4 of my frnds know abt it but my other frnds would point it out. Bc I'm rlly skinny part of the bottom of my back brace would poke out (idk if it's js me), kids at my school would point it out and laugh abt it. A girl I was pretty close to talked to her frnd abt it and I stood by a corner, not willing to turn around and she kept pulling me so she could see what's wrong w my back. I heard that having to wear a back brace was rlly common but none of my frnds wore it/no one ik did either so I felt rlly alone in the process of getting one and putting it on so this video helped me, a lot

i am very very sorry and I can say I know the discomfort of wearing a brace. The looniness you are feeling is completely valid. I think I talk about it at one point in the vid but its very hard for your friends to understand what you are going through cus, even tho it is common, you don't really know what its like until you live through it. None of my friends wore one either and inevitably, sometimes they weren't as supportive because they truly didn't know what I needed. In school setting for instance, this is an example, but all my friends would sit on the floor for lunch, but I wasn't able to. I did voice it out once but they didn't really change anything and I didn't want to annoy them so I just left. Another time, this guy behind me in class literally knocked on the plastic ( like knock knock, yk?) and I still remember how uncomfortable I was. It's not easy, it really isn't. If you need any tips or just want to vent, we can talk here. I wish I would have had someone to validate my feelings at the time, so you don't understand how glad I am that the video helped. Stay strong and lots of love 💜 PS: my back brace would poke out too, the top and the bottom ( my bum would be this | flat) . So no, not the only one hahah

@@siocoynehi this has been some time but I got rlly upset at the fact that I had to wear a brace. I don’t like it at all. It made one of my ribcage uneven and I’m so upset It’s always the “why me” when so many other ppl could’ve gotten scoliosis but I feel so uncomfortable just being in my own body bc of it. I’m so sad that I was the one with a medical condition and barely anyone else.

I really appreciate you making this video. I am 14, and was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was 13. I had back pain growing up, sometimes mild, sometimes severe. I found out about a month ago that I need a back brace, and I am getting it the day after tomorrow. I already have back pain all the time, and I am so scared about how uncomfortable this brace will be. Thankfully, I will be done growing in 6 months to a year, and my case is moderate, not severe. (it's an S curve, 25 and 26 degrees, but progressing rapidly.) There are so many things I am worried about. For example, in May I get my drivers permit (I'll be 15), but I know that the brace is harder to move and turn in, so I am thinking it will be harder to drive. Also, I am a nanny for a toddler, I don't know how I will take care of her when I can't even bend over. In the summer, I am worried about the heat and wearing t-shirts. I know I will get used to it, and I know that my case could be SO much worse, but it is still hard for me. Thank you so much for being brave enough to talk about it, this just makes me realize that I am not alone in this. Even if you aren't Shavon (hopefully I'm spelling her name right), feel free to reply to this and share your experiences with scoliosis, would love to talk to anyone. :) Edit: guys HELP, this thing hurts so bad 😭

Hi love!!!! I deeply apologize for taking half a year to reply I log into this account once in a blue moon BUT I read your update saying it hurts and I’m so sorry because it truly does. Such an ongoing constant pain that is so hard to explain. And also the claustrophobia it gave me still haunts me to this day. That being said, you’re truly stronger than you realize and it DOES FINISH. I know it doesn’t seem like it in the moment but there is a finish line and everyday it’s a little closer. As always, you can dm is you need to vent. I’ve been there, it’s hard. So yeah sending you the most amount of strength Zoey 💘💘

Hi!! Thank you so much this helps! I have anxiety and I just got my brace in December and I’m 15. For the whole second semester of 9th grade I was way to scared to wear the brace at school. I know people wouldn’t make fun of me but I just feel so ugly and weird and uncomfortable in it. Next year I decided to wear it to school because my friends were very supportive and also because my curve is getting worse. Im just really scared that the brace will change what people will think of me and it’s so bulky and ugly I hate it sm. Do you have any suggestions for the first day of school wearing the brace? Also congrats for no more back brace!!

@@siocoyne that was 2 months ago, I have worn this brace for 3 months and tbh its not that bad anymore. Whats really bad is my newly-put-on TEETH braces, which made me realize how not bad my scoliosis brace was. What shirts worked best for under the brace?
@siocoyne
@siocoyne Жыл бұрын
hii! so, what I recommend is to find a cotton, stretchy but tight, long sleeve shirt and cut the arms four fingers or so above the elbow. Most t-shirts have vert short sleeves and it can irritate the skin if your brace reaches your arm pits like mine. And, if you brace reaches your pelvis make sure the shirt can stretch that far. Hope this helps !
