My kids use the Socratic method. "Get your shoes on." "Why?" "We're going out." "Why?" "We need to go shopping." "Why?" "Because we need to buy food." "Why?" "Because we're running low." "Why?" "Because we've eaten most of it." "Why?" "... Get your shoes on."

I am Greek and an engineer and I am a very critical thinker. Once I was dismissed from a job because somebody said I was too negative! I said are you really going to put that in writing so I can report that to Human resources and the Labor department? The manager on his next breath then said the reason I was dismissed because they just hired some new direct salary people and contractors are low on the totem pole. And I have found that many if not most people do not like when you question their methods or motives or anything, They take it as an insult and will lash out at you and try to deflect from the questions you asked

That was fascinating! I was aware of Socrates' skepticism towards democracy, under the notion that an uneducated and simple-minded society can literally vote itself into destruction and despair, but I hadn't known all that much about his life, nor the details of his death. Thanks for making this. No doubt society and history lost a great man upon his death. As always, these Biographics videos are a great way to pass the time. Thanks for making them. The Apology is a great short read, about 60 pages, IIRC. I read it about 35 years ago in my teens and it was interesting to be reminded as you recounted the gist of it. "Apology" in those days was more akin to "My Defense". It is the story of his trial as told by Plato. I do remember his audacity when asked for his sentence... he reasoned that since he had actually helped the youth, and thus the future of Athens, he should be rewarded with a great feast like the athletes in the Olympics... that didn't fly, lol. Also, how he reasoned that he should not escape bc he did not agree with the outcome of a system he was a member of. That really hit me deep, that if we choose to be a part of something, we cannot simply refuse the rules when we don't like the outcome. Obviously, that concept was lost on Hillary. ;)

Our society has become so aesthetic. Socrates would be ignored by nearly everyone if he lived among us today, based on appearance alone.

I really enjoyed this video, it's so interesting that you cover people from history. I have a suggestion if you that I think might be interesting, how about Giuseppe Garibaldi.

If you watched the video, you would know that Socrates didn't actually have any qualms with the religion of the time, the charges were brought up against him because he was annoying, not because he was necessarily guilty of them.

With the astonishing amount of content you and your team consistently put out, with equal attention spread out over three extremely popular and educational channels; you have every right to put ads anywhere you choose. Because without those ads, you couldn’t keep enlightening the world with an incredible amount of knowledge at the same rate because you’d need some other full time job to survive. People can shove it if they have a problem with any ads because they can’t be bothered to use simple logic. You invested money into these quality productions and I hope the voices of appreciation are louder than the ones of ignorance and makes all of this hard work worth it for you. Thank you.
