5:04 If the donkey refuses to move from the track then track will move away from the donkey. Innovative solution.

Was pretty nice replica of the Rocket. Altho the carriages are missing the brakes on the wheels. The whole purpose of the folks sitting on top sides of the carriages are the brakes men. On early trains they had to pull the brakes levers simultaneously to apply the brake shoe on the wheels. This was used for a while until the hose interconnection and steam (later compressed air) brakes were invented, and brakes men were no longer needed on each car.
@phil65062 жыл бұрын
I always thought they were vacuum brakes not compressed air.

has ANYBODY noticed a ''movie mistake'' at 5:20 on (deformed rails, but the train passing as if it were straight, a stone hindering the view; when the donkey is finally gone, the rails are, of course, straight)
@lucasdJAdam2 жыл бұрын
The copy of rocket used in this film was lost. It is not known whether it was actually powered. But looking at the film I think not. The rails is not constructed well enough to hold the weight of a real loco. And the stunts on the uneven rails are way to dangerous with a real pressurized boiler. I think its a light mock up. Thats pushed or pulled just out of frame. Some other shots are made by having the whole train run down hill. Im not sure of course. But we know they where masters of the pratical effects. Especially Keaton.
@kennethlee4948 жыл бұрын
Keaton loved trains and had the recreation of the Stephenson's Rocket created just for this film as well as nearly a mile of rickety track.

@kennethlee4943 жыл бұрын
@@chevyblue10 True, there were variations on this design in use for several years although the track, which could be bad was never as bad as shown in that movie. The track in the movie was constructed to enhance the comedy.

@@chevyblue10 and yes, many of the early trains simply used stage coach bodies for the passenger cars.

Perjuangan kereta api jadul. Kebodohan yg terulang.
