From what i understand, about half of them did look right like Kaela. Not because they would mess up the commands, but because they just though command has different meaning. I think main misunderstanding was between "look" (rotate just head) left/right and "turn" (rotate your body) left/right. Because when you just look your body is still facing front, so when you are supposed to look right next, you look right from the starting position. Still very fun event :)
@tirtam61262 ай бұрын
Yea They not ask its its only facing or turn Its diff if next command is maju"move forward"
@zakral12 ай бұрын
their directions are already correct based on Indonesians' drill commands standard. We Indonesians were educated to do this thing back in school. When the command says "hadap" it's always been 90 degree turn, but when they say "balik" u should turn 180 degree.

But the direction was "FACE" left "FACE" right. Honestly the directions were kinda poor in that regard. TURNING would have been a better word to use over facing.
@sialiasialis.2 ай бұрын
Yeah seems very confusing even if the directions were in pure English, I feel it would confuse most to turn to the right of the initial neutral position, instead of turning right from the already left-facing position. In such an instance, I think the distinction should have been "Face Forward" instead of "Face Right"

For anyone wondering this is because this simon says game hinges on Indonesia flag ceremonies, to tidy up the placement/position we follow commands (which also being use in the military) thats why it must be followed to a tee, for example theres a proper form for salutting, turning, walking, etc. The confusion probably comes from the Indonesia who already graduates and forgot about the details but usually (just like the explanation in the videos) we separate looking/turning (balik) with facing (hadap) and we usually follow it by order so you dont immediately resets.

Honestly? I feel like most people would make that mistake on face left and face right because it isn't exactly conveyed correctly. If you were to assume you return to a reset position to make sure the directions are emphasized correctly, they both did it the way I would have done it as well. If the direction was TURN left once and right once, that would make more sense rather then FACE left then face right. That is on the directions more then the followers I feel.
@aizero-ih3uy2 ай бұрын
It's more of... Dialect? Language thing? Because we've been using "HADAP KIRI... HAET!!!" command since forever, and now that you mention it, I do think that "turn left" makes more sense, I don't know how lining up command over there was, so, I guess they were just translating the command word per word instead of context per context, well, that's just how language barrier was I guess :v, i learnt something new
@marioprawirosudiro73012 ай бұрын
It's a cultural thing, I think. Most Indonesians are drilled on how to march. In marching, "hadap kiri/kanan" have specific meanings. These are the equivalent of "face left/right" in English - only to be done while stationary, 90 degrees to each side. The moving equivalent would be "turn left/right", which in Indonesian is "belok kiri/kanan". What Ela did was an about-face. I assume this was the meanings that the organizers had in mind while planning this.
@sialiasialis.2 ай бұрын
Yeah I said it before but "face forward" probably would have been the least confusing version of that direction
@hectornecromancer53082 ай бұрын
@@sialiasialis. It's tricky in English. But very straightforward in Indonesian (because hadap kiri/hadap kanan is the standard term used in marching)
