Food being room temp is perfectly fine for like 90% of foods. The average age being in the 30s is a bit of a misunderstanding of averages. It was indeed roughly in the 30s, but it's because a large amount of infants died either at birth or shortly after birth; and a large number of women (young women) also died during childbirth, most people who survived infancy lived to their 60s. However; if you average all people, those who lived past infancy and those that died it brings the average down to 30s. Doesn't mean everyone died at 30, just that so many babies and young women died during childbirth that if brings the total average down. Simple maths that isn't meant to be historically correct numbers. If you have 100 people, 50 die at childbirth and 50 live to 60, the average age of those 100 people is 30. Doesn't mean everyone died at 30. I know this is a stupid place to put a comment like this but maybe someone will read it and this myth will be debunked for one person.
