Because not every person understands the meaning, therefore not everyone can relate. Songs with simple lyrics are easy to understand. For example Charlie Puth totally has the knowledge and money to create a musically and technically difficult song, but he doesn‘t, because he knows that pop is easier for the majority to understand and relate to.
