I second what Paul said below. We are both 70+aged women and thanks to this video we were able to disassemble the mechanism and got both sections through a rather narrow doorway. Tired but happy! Thank you so much!

Thank you for making this video. I have just had a sofa bed delivered and I was thinking how does this heavy thing get taken upstairs? Then I thought that it must come apart, and your video described it perfectly. Thank you so much!

Seems like a good way to add more storage in a camper. Buy a sofa bed, take the bed out and then make a platform that lifts up to put the cushions on and now you have a large storage area without taking up anymore room than a normal couch.

Thank you so much for this! Just to let you know that it works beautifully for a Sofa Workshop Lloyd sofa bed!

I hope it is that easy! I picked up a used sleeper sofa for very little but want to change it from a sleeper to a storage sofa. The sleeper part is in really rough shape so that is why I decided on making it a storage sofa instead. Thanks for sharing.

I’m not sure if you’ll see this comment, but if you do, how did that process end up going? Was it easy to complete? I inherited a hide-a-bed couch from my grandparents but the bed frame makes the couch way too heavy so I’m wanting to just get rid of that part

@@aamandazittlau5505 It was not too hard to remove... I enlisted my then 19 year old son to help me. I have not yet built the box for the storage though... lot was going on then C-19 happened... and the cost of plywood is pretty high now which is what I am going to use... I have the hinges though for the box lid. :) 2X4X8's are also a little more expensive than I remember but nowhere near as bad as the plywood... I know this as I was in the bad Texas freeze earlier this year and as a result have to repair my bathroom floor due to water damage... single full sheet of plywood for that was over $75 and I needed 2 full sheets. - Heidi

@@BlackCat_2 shoot! I hadn’t even thought of cost of materials being high right now. I hope the bathroom repairs are going well at least, that must really suck to have that thrown on you during a pandemic

@@aamandazittlau5505 Yeah plywood is crazy... especially for the really good highly water resistant kind. :) It's all good. DIY'ing of course so it is a nice distraction. Keeping the tub for now but as money allows that will be going too. Vanity, sink, and faucet are also being replaced. Toilet is still good though so that is a relief. Mirror is also staying as it is still in good shape. This took priority over building the storage box. :)

Where can I get a sofabed using that type of mechanism with wood slats, in Canada??

i got an old sofa bed at a flea market. When I open the mattress, the metal carriage hits the floor causing a big scratch. Can it be repaired or should I just toss it? The scratches occur on the ends, not the middle.

Just want to point out this is MUCH more difficult if there's only one person.

I just ripped the bed out of the couch and made a hide away storage trunk out of it :) Its great but now I don't know how to disassemble the actual bed?' Does anyone know how to remove the type of screws they use?

anyone know what supports the suiting position while we put the cushions in and they don't fall in ? we really like a second hand sofa bed. The bed frames perfect, but when you make it into sofa I think the basic support for seating is missing. Can anyone help ?

How do you change the support that holds the mattress? The springs are too tight for me to remove the black tarp-like fabric. I need to replace with a new one. Thanks!
@sofabedgallery6 жыл бұрын
To remove the springs located at the edge, use a wooden coat hanger - the bent wire will fit through the spring end so you can pull it using the wooden rail end to remove. I would be very careful at attempting this procedure though as once removed, it will be very difficult to reinstall the springs, plus you will need a fabric bed the same size as original which I'm unsure you will be able to buy. Good luck !

Hi. Is it easy to remove arms off a sofa ? I bought a sectional couch but it’s 3 pieces. A love seat ( 2 cushions ) A couch ( 3 cushions ) and a corner piece ( 1 cushion ) each has arms - except the corner piece. Hard to lay down due to the arms beside the corner piece. Ends are ok. Hope you know what style I am talking about. Now : It’s hard for 2 ppl to lay down on each couch due to the arms. The longer ( couch ) is ok BUT the smaller ( love seat ) isn’t. As the arm is under your bum area. Is it easy to remove the arms and if so how would I get the fabric back onto the couch that WAS on the arms ?? Hope that you see my post. As i see this was posted some time ago. Also I am hoping to get a reply in my email telling me you replied to this post. Fingers crossed here. 🤞🏼🙏🏼😊

The arms are probably fixed, unless you can see bolt heads securing them - I would suggest taking a look at the arm mating point from underneath the sofa, if they are bolt on you should be able to see the bolts here.
