This is amazing advice I would have never considered when looking for a new couch. When I look online at interior photos and how living rooms are set up then all your tips make sense and is very visually pleasing. Will 100% be keeping this in mind whil sofa hunting!!

I bought a large white trunk to store my infant niece’s stuff in kzbin.infoUgkxNuLbiXpLQ-mKH5NlyjrNe88hiCk2N3Cg , as she comes to my house frequently. For now, it’s toys on one side and diapers, wipes, and other baby care items on the other. As she gets older, it will be all toys. I had originally wanted a trunk with a hinged lid, but I was afraid of her smashing or pinching her fingers in it. This will be a much safer option. The lid has great padding in it and it is actually nice to sit on. It feels very sturdy and secure. Looks like it can be wiped clean easily. If it gets abused by her, I won’t be terribly upset because I paid less than $50 for it on Prime Day.

Take a tape measure when looking for a sofa. Depth is very important. Some sofas are almost four feet deep; when dealing with a room that's ten feet wide that's huge. I had a camel back sofa that was very narrow but long enough to sleep on if needed.
@Person-mh6xq5 жыл бұрын
mary hershelman sofas are *not* almost four feet deep! A deep sofa is typically 40” deep. Typically, 36” is about an average depth.

I just went through this and found that modular sofas that have a square corner are easier to fit in my small space. They usually have low backs and I could get the pieces armless to not waste space. HOWEVER this type ie. cloud sofas, are typically very low so I bought one and am putting legs on it so it’s not super low. Your right on here.

Le Courbusier 3-seater: long n lean. It's really a love seat but works as a sofa. The arms are relatively innocuous. A classic. Built like an elegant tank...easy to move.

Well, it's difficult to avoid buying small sofas/furniture, if you only have 1,7 m available for it (the space in the living room where it will be placed, and no, I can't put it elsewhere). Or maybe you want a small sofa, because of cost/placement/design and so on, a small sofa only looks weird if the room is big, if you have a small room, it will be similar to the rest of the objects in the room, but I'll remember the advice about the legs, I plan to change them, it will also add some height.

Thanks for the tips! :) I have a dilemma though between getting a sofa with legs, or getting one with storage. Sofas with storage tend to look bulky (very short or no legs). I have a small living room so maximizing storage spaces is important for me, but making the room feel bigger (with low profile sofas) is equally important. Can you advise?

A very informative video video. Thank you! When you have a sofa on legs and put some boxes or baskets underneath it since small spaces require extra storage solutions, would you say that the "lightness effect" would be eradicated?
@Designchickee5 жыл бұрын
No, not necessarily. But hopefully the boxes aren't so obvious! :)

I need recommendations on where to purchase the furniture! I’m in a 776 sq ft apartment/condo and I’m so depressed because I can’t seem to find the right furniture that will fit and that looks good. I’m seeming a sleeper sofa so if I have guests they will have a place to sleep. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Our room has walls comprised of a large picture window, a fireplace, the front door and an archway to a different room. I don`t want to cover the fireplace or have the seating area face away from the window. I chose to form a small gouping in the center of the room defined by a carpet, two chairs and a loveseat (with legs). My intent was to avoid a cramped feeling by having space to navigate around the area. How would having a sofa rather than a loveseat improve things? Enjoyed your video.

Current dilemma. I want to use hardwood in our custom build home. However I want to use porcelain “wood like” material in the kitchen, mudroom, and bathrooms. Seems to be difficult to match these 2 materials. Any tips you can offer? I am tempted to just drop the idea of going hardwood. only stick to porcelain plank flooring.
