This is beyond amazing. The first few minutes got me merely interested but then, around 4 minutes, the Gubaidulina magic kicks in. The ending is ecstatic, to say the least.

She has the same background (cultural, historical) with Schnittke as well as with Denisov, Silvestrov, Knaifel, Kancheli, Firsova, Mansurian a. o. but she has developed a sound that is completely her own. A deep religious devotion is the great force behind her compositional activity. The key-concept to understand her music is "re-ligio" according to her own words (but who wants to understand when there is so much to feel?)
