No Surprises I did too. Not because of her specifically, but yeah, because I read so much about lymphoma (someone that used to go to my college has died from it) and it had shocked me so much, there are people going through so much pain and suffering and hope and sometimes they don't make it.. And I have healthy lungs and I poison every cell in them everday. It's bizzare.

I am gutted to get the news .. life really is so unfair.. I am lucky to be fit at 45 .. along the way I have missed so many possible accidents with morbike and at work... Anemia ect... But here I am.. just lucky. Some people I know are so nasty and never miss a opertunity to harm mentally and physically.. I wonder why there is a complete oppersit .. we only have one go in life.. For these people to make nasty comments to a teenage girl who was on her death bed... they are the scum of humanity. No one should've blamed her for not updating, she was dying, and died a few months later in fact. This girl was the true definition of strong. Even while she was facing all of these horrible circumstances, ones that caused her to burst into tears, she still wanted to have a wonderful life. And all these people could think about was themselves. I hope people take a good look at themselves in the mirror and ask themselves if that was worth it. But, to honor her wish in this video, I will end this on a positive note So Fia, you were an inspiration to many people, and though I watched this video at the very last day of January 2020, you have helped encourage people who do have Cancer to chin up and get out their and live life as best as they can. Though I myself have never been affected by cancer personally outside of losing my grandfather to it, I can tell it isn't an easy life, and to take the good with that degree of bad is no small feet. You must've been an incredible person, and a gift from God to this earth. May you rest in his embrace and enjoy your eternal life with him! Who knows? Maybe I'll meet you someday in the far future. Sophia ended up winning the Shorty award and passed away 1,5 month later on June 1st 2018. Her beautiful soul will always be remembered. I first discovered her videos in May of 2018, just after my dad passed away from cancer. It hit me very hard and I'm still sad even now in 2023, He passed just 2 years after being diagnosed, so it was fairly quick despite all the treatments and surgeries, radiation, chemo. It was devastating to see him go from a big strong man to bed bound just before he passed. But even up til the last night he was alive, I still felt safe, he was always my Hercules. I guess I was looking for some kind of connections after that to help me with my emptiness. 🥲

I just stumbled upon this video and I must say that this human being had a lot of courage sharing her journey with the world. Being alive is a blessing, being able to wake up everyday and see your loved ones in good health is a blessing. Cancer is a terrible disease that is killing people all around the world every single minute. So many talented, beautiful and loving people are losing their battles to cancer. Jenny Delgado my great-grandmother passed away bcs of cancer just before i was born. The doctor didn’t realize any tumor but she passed away in 2000💔 (that doctor did just made a mistake. we all do mistakes❤️. He is the best doctor and he is 81.) I will have to go to the doc in 2 weeks, bcs of my knee🙄 ( i don’t want to go bcs the soccer game season beigns in next month⚽️❤️). But i hope they can help me❤️.

All of my terminal friends (had cancer myself, so have had quite the number in my life) understood when people said "you can beat it", they mean it from their heart, but it can be like a dagger in their heart, because they know it isnt possible. Perhaps consider taking that out of your vocabulary around terminal patients? I know you mean it well, but I had one friend, heaven rest her soul, that even up until a couple of days before her passing, they were still sending her messages of "you can beat this". I refused to and said to her "I hate that this is your journey and I wish you a peaceful, bearable trip to what comes next". I know that she appreciated that, because she didn't have to pretend to be strong with me.

Some people hate it when you pity them while others don’t. I tried to word it as best as I could and ended up slipping again. I really try to understand there pain but I can’t even begin to consider all the stuff she’s going through. It also aggravates me that everyone is powerless against it. She’s a really sweet girl and I’m young myself and can’t imagine having my life taken from me like that. heymisterderp I know, it’s so sad that her last video is filled with such negative things. She shouldn’t have to address these things. Of corse we wanted to know how she was doing but at the end of the day, she deserved the time to herself and she doesn’t owe us anything. She battled an awful illness that took away things that we do easily. These people obviously don’t have any respect or care. I find it so disappointing that people would be so inconsiderate about hints like cancer. She didn’t deserve any of those negative comments. She did nothing wrong and this was her last video, essentially a fair well, and she had to address what was being commented on her Instagram. You can see how genuinely upset she got when she was talking bout the comments and how ignorant those people are. She was a young girl battling Cancer and people couldn’t give her respect or the time of day to just let her self just have a brake. It’s so sad that such a positive soul had to go through these things and now she’s no longer with us.

Just now you've wished someone close to me dies. Also, trolling is not necessarily bullying. It can be just light pranking, as in, I troll my work colleagues on a daily basis, I trolled my son into thinking I forgot about his birthday, I trolled my girlfriend into thinking my anniversary present to her was a knock-off thermos. This breaks my heart. Honestly in tears right now. I had cancer at 17. I’m 23 now. Been in remission 5 years. Just feeling the pain in her voice. Because of all the pills, treatments, and everything. It doesn’t wear down only your body but also your mind. It wears you down mentally n just feeling how hurt she is by people making negative comments it got to me because I know how hard it could be. When going though that your mind n body is kicking you while your down. Other people jumping in with negativity doesn’t help at all. When you see people going through this know that they are fighters. They fight everyday, don’t think they go through what they go through for attention. They go through it hoping for a better tomorrow. Be a person who puts a smile on their face because it may be the only time they smile that day. You never know that one smile could end up meaning the world to them n keep them going through the day. Don’t bring them down. Don’t make them sad. Cancer beats you down enough as it is.

I just watched her Shorty Awards acceptance video. Her state at that point, barely a month before she died, is absolutely soul crushing. This poor, poor girl should never have had to go through all that pain and suffering, but she did so with a smile. It is said that the candle which is twice as bright burns half as long... Well, Sophia, you beautiful human being: You were the brightest of them all! May your rest be peaceful, far away from all the fear and pain. May your memory never die.

The second anniversary of her passing is about 2 weeks away. I was thinking about her. She would be 18. No doubt she’d be helping us stay positive during this virus, helping us stay humble, and perhaps talking about your first semester of uni ending early because of a pandemic.
