I made a medical binder for my dad and now have one for my mom.
@YesThatPrettyGirL2 жыл бұрын
This is phenomenal! My grandfather is going to be 84 in a couple of weeks and grandmother will turn 82 beautiful years young next week. And as their primary caregiver for the last umpteen years, it's getting harder and harder for me to do it all. And, to be quite honest, I'm sick myself. I'm still undergoing lots of diagnostic testing to really try to nail a much more definitive diagnosis and prognosis. Moreover, so I can plan appropriately. I do not intend to tell either one of them because that will only leave them both with more, undo stress. Thank you again for sharing this information. ❤

Such a blessing! Thank you! I am 558 miles away from my elderly parents. Elderhelpers! Yaasss! 🙏🏻❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I (and my parents) are very lucky that they have retiree medical insurance through Kaiser Permanente so I don't need a binder. :-) Neither of my parents are good at understanding and repeating the care instructions, but at least they've completed their Advanced Medical Directive and authorized me to access their health records online. The Elder Helpers link. OMG. This is so useful. I can't wait to let my parents know about this!

@Kayolo Lindenberger you are so far ahead of many! Good for you and your parents! I have come to find out that Elder Helpers has a "donation" fee, but it's still an amazing service!

Your videos have been amazing! My dad had a stroke a month ago and I flew out to help him, while keeping my full time job working remotely. Wow! I didn’t realize what I was in for and how completely unprepared and inadequate I was. Anyway, learning a lot from you!

It has only been 5 months since my father got out of the hospital. He now needs numerous doctors and nurses, and workers at home. Your life is forever changed. How can anyone keep a job I don't know. 😔🙏

@@chrislim7976 yeah it’s like impossible to keep a job! But I’m managing by working early in the morning and late at nights. I hope your father is doing better. How are you doing?

@@guneeta7896 I am not well. Clinically depressed. I am not a young person and I am scared for my own health. This has affected me greatly. I don't know how you can handle seeing your parents age.

As of today (5/5/2024) the Elder Helpers website says "Access Code $50 per month" is charged to get the contact information to reach the volunteers.
@SofiaAmirpoor8 ай бұрын
Yes, they consider that a “donation” . I know $50 a month is a lot for many people, but I suppose it is less than hiring a caregiver or other helper privately. 🤷♀️

I tried the backpack health app and it doesn’t have a database of treatments, therapy, etc. I troubleshooted with the app and they couldn’t resolve the issue. Good idea but unfortunately didn’t work.

I'm glad you have alot of family and friends, cause I don't!!! My mom is mean and won't let anyone come to her house if they are not one of us 3 kids. My sister can't because her health is worse than mom's and my brother just had a stroke a couple months back and is still recovering!!!
@kianay38753 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't give her a choice. Find someone with thick skin and let them know what she's like and hire them. (If they will take the job) Your mother may just need to get used to someone but in the end it will be better for you and everyone. She may even make a new loving friend. Be strong. I feel your pain sis!

Will these also apply for a 78 year old husband with cognitive decline, osteoarthritis in his knee and Charcot Marie Tooth Disease? I find that there are services in our area post surgery but not much more at least in our income area.

That’s terrible (and well hidden on the site). I wonder if it was initially free (when Sofia did the review) but now it’s a $50/month subscription.🤔 They even go so far as to state: “People suffering from extreme anxiety, serious memory or mental issues, or experiencing unmanageable financial hardship, are strongly discouraged from participating in Elder Helpers.”
