I just received one of these I ordered as a replacement to my Baton 3 that crapped the bed... I'm going to try and get it replaced but for now I'm very happy with this Sofirn sc21. It's basically everything my Baton was except a couple of qualities that I like even more and it's half the price and doesn't use a proprietary charger.
@FlashlightEnthusiast2 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear that from a fellow Baton 3 user. I hope SC21 will serve you well

@@FlashlightEnthusiast So far so well! My Baton is up and running again, but I'm finding the sc21 in my pocket instead. Loving that little light
@drutgat2 Жыл бұрын
I thought you had to use a charger with the SC21 - I.e., no on board or on battery USB- C port.

For the price, this can't be beat, but from a performance perspective, the closest competitor would be the new Olight Baton 3. Would love to see a direct comparison of performance if you should ever get your hands on one. Another great review.
@FlashlightEnthusiast3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! For this price I think it will be hard to compete with it. I could check the Olight for comparison, yet it is much more expensive and obviously cool white emitter. I am glad Sofirn used LH351D here - I love this one and I believe many users will appreciate high CRI output for their EDC instead of lurid cool white tint

I have the baton II and III, and Sofirn sc21, and you’re right, for 1/3 the price this thing can’t be beat. The magnet isn’t as strong and the clip isn’t as nice, but the tint is way nicer and it’s floodier than the batons (which is good or bad depending on your application.). Usb-c charging vs magnetic charging on the batons, pluses and minuses there. Usb-c cables are common but magnetic charging gives better water resistance.
@ayokay1233 жыл бұрын
@@unatommer Floodier is good, but is it at the expensive of throw? Which has the further throw between the Baton 3 and the sc21? Also, don't forget that for triple the price, you get the nifty Baton battery charging case that provides an extra 3.7x charges. If you want to compare price to price, it would be $30 (Sofirn) to $65 (Baton 3), so it's more like twice the price.
@unatommer3 жыл бұрын
@@ayokay123 I’m going to guess the baton has better throw, based upon the deer sightings in my back yard. Closer up (like within 2-3 feet) you don’t get as much spill if you’re working on something so…depends on your application. I ordered direct from Sofirn twice (the second time as give aways for friends) and paid about $22/each shipped. $30 is the Amazon price.

nice, love your reviews and was unsure if it was worth it or not. could you compare it to hs05?
@FlashlightEnthusiast3 жыл бұрын
Thank you man! I believe it is worth it for the price, excellent product. I don't have HS05 for comparison, yet they are pretty similar. I believe headlamp has shorter runtime and a little bit less throw. Apart from that take what you need at a time - handheld or headlamp flashlight

What can you sau about that type of button? It' s easy to find in the dark? It's easy to accidentally turn on? I prefer the rubberized one on the SC31 series. Better tactile feel and no much harder to turn on by mistake
@FlashlightEnthusiast2 жыл бұрын
Relatively easy to find in the dark, as ot protrudes form the body. Good click, with distinctive travel, might encourage accidental activation
@zampination2 жыл бұрын
I too love the button on my sc31pro but because of anduril and all the customisation i made through the course of one year and 2 months the rubberized plastic is starting to crap a bit. Meaning sometimes when pushing it you feel that the rubber stay pushed for a second or two and then returns to its original form with a characteristic sound when popping back on. But still works fine and it was pushed way too often. Even if the rubber eventually fails the button beneath it is still working as new. Also yeah the specific button on the sc31pro is very good and it's almost impossible to accidentally turn on the light and that's a huge plus cause that way you don't have to lock the light and lose precious time every time you need to use it. So i agree, in my book any light that needs to be locked is useless vs others that don't.

Thanks for this. If you put the lanyard on, does that mean that you will be unable to stand the flashlight up (flat) on its tail cap? And the same with trying to attach it to a steel surface - will the lanyard loop over the bottom surface, and therefore prevent the bottom magnetic surface of the tail cap coming into 100% contact with whatever you are trying to attach it to?
@FlashlightEnthusiast Жыл бұрын
You can always attach the lanyard to the clip I think

@@FlashlightEnthusiast I am new to this hobby. I used to have a simple Fenix flashlight long time ago. And now I’ve got interested with all this variety of emitters, optics, batteries, UIs/modes, etc. I failed to find any grounding on why Anduril and brightness stabilisation cannot be combined in the very same light. Can you point me in the right direction please? Do you think stabilisation is really crucial or this is more like a checkbox for an enthusiast? Thanks in advance.

The pocket clip is like on the Wurkkos TS10 which is terrible cuz u need 2 hands unlike the clip of the olight i3T.

Thanks for the input, in my view the majority of pocket clips require 2 hands to mount the flashlight securely...

So now that it's been a while, which light would you choose between the Olight baton 3, the Thrunite t1, or the Sofirn sc21. I have both the Olight & Thrunite. But I'm on the fence about the Sofirn.?
@FlashlightEnthusiast2 жыл бұрын
Sofirn hands down, unless you need ultra premium quality of Olight. More focused beam than Thrunite and identical functionality as Olight with slightly lower, yet still good build quality.
