I have primarily 3c hair (think Luhhsetty) and I haven't had a relaxer since middle school (I'm 20) so when my boyfriend, who has 4c hair, told me he wanted to grow out his natural hair, I told him I could totally help with the process of styling and everything! Let me tell you, girl: PLAYED MYSELF. None of my products had ANY effect, his hair sucked everything up immediately! I knew how hair was different, but I completely underestimated just how different. Luckily his sister came home and saved the day 😂

I greatly enjoy you and your videos. I appreciate how over the years you done updated videos on wash & go on 4c hair. You looked very pretty but it is too much work for a style that will only last for a day or so and the risk of tangles and matting is real. I tend to agree with your earlier videos when you stated that wash & go's are not for 4c hair and that is okay.

Thanks for that dose of Nappyfoolery at the end! I'm still trying to perfect a wash and go on my mostly 4c hair. It is a lot of work and trying to find the right combo of leave-in and gel/styling product is a struggle! I agree that it good in that you're moisturizing and hydrating your hair more often. The only reason I'm attempting this is because I started working out 4-5 times a week and I need to refresh my hair between shampoos. But I'm starting to think that a chunky braid out after a midweek co-wash will work better for me.

I’m 4a. My coils range from sharpie size to pen tip size. Wash and go’s actually prevent me from getting tangled because it is frozen in place (however the ends always loop and give me single strand knots, so it’s a 50/50 payoff). My hair also stays more moisturized.

I like how it looked on your hair shrunken. I like the wash n go the most. I find that twisting my hair a lot breaks it. For me the wash n go is easier. I can do it in an hour. And yes I'm 4c. However I don't use products that leave a bunch of white stuff. But my hair is not as long as yours so it probably takes you way longer to dry.

Thank You for stating that this takes a LONG time! I totally agree.... my hair also is low porosity, so waiting for my hair to dry is Not the business!!! I've been on this hydrate and define thing this year and so many talk about how this takes less time than twistouts, and I'm like Huh? Not unless you have a twa! I can't do the damp hair going out thing, and I can go to bed with wet / damp twists, rock a headwrap if they're still not dry etc, but with these, you just gotta wait it out, diffuse, etc. I am still learning technique so thank you for this demo (and the demo of these products).

Pro: wash and gos definitely give you the chance to appreciate your hair's natural texture the more you wear it. Con: the style doesn't seem to last as long as a twist out or braid out, which means you're refreshing / manipulating your hair way more. BTW, I loved the results on your hair!! Love the coils

I haven’t mastered a successful wash n go but I’ve only tried it twice 3 years ago..in the beginning of my hair journey...now I feel like I can try it again because i know my hair now. We’ve been on the same page and have been loving each other. ALove4Me is a 4c hair type youtuber who has done a WNG series and is doing another thats glycerin free. Anyways you’re absolutely right it forces us to stay on top of our hair, keeping it moisturized and redoing it every 3-4 days (increased manipulation) . I thought your results came out super cute especially it’s shrunken state 😍. I love your random songs. I catch myself dancing and saying “aye” with you!

I have mostly 4b hair with a little bit of 4a and 4c in certain sections. I almost always do a wash and go. My twist outs don’t seem to last that long and I end up throwing it up into a puff earlier in the week. I find it easier to do wash and gos because it gives me definition and is super long lasting. I just do all my washing, detangling, and styling in the shower. Takes forever but it gives me good results. I will say it takes me hair forever to dry though. I also use the banding method to keep my hair from shrinking up and tangling. If I don’t, I’ll go from having a full fro to TWA in a matter of days lol

Pros: Fast, easy, and lasts Cons: none wash n goes are my go to style. I've mastered them and yes I'm 4C. My favorite products to use are the Taliah Waajid curly curl cream or the Clear Eco styler gel (Xtreme Wetline gel works good too). I use whatever leave in I have on hand. To maintain it I sleep with my hair in 5 ponytails and fluff it in morning. On wash day I spritz my hair with a little water and coat my hair in oil then detangle with my fingers and a comb or brush.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. I love that you love your hair. It's contagious. Pros: helps you get comfortable with your natural texture; over time you learn which techniques work best with your hair. Cons: tangles and sometimes breakage, especially if you aren't moisturizing and being gentle with your hair.

You are so beautiful and have such an amazing spirit. You werked that definition. The pros of a wash n go is the amount of days you can get from that style. The cons of a wash n go is the tangles, dryness, a series of knots. Depending on the texture of your hair, wash n go's are more trouble than its worth. I would love to purchase a DVD of your bloopers. Do you think you'll ever consider making & selling any?

Wash and go was best for my hair during the first year of natural. Now I am on year 3, and wash and gos are a death wish for my hair! My hair tangles and often times the products dry out if my cuticle isn't sealed before I go out into the environment.

These days I do WNGs pretty much exclusively on my SHORT 4b/4c hair. ;) However, once it gets past a certain length it stops being a WNG because I prefer to take the time to stretch my super-shrinky top. Thanks to KZbinr cynthiarf I was doing kinda-sorta WNGs all the way to CBL but this grow-round I'll probably stop after the 6-inch mark and do stretched styles. With WNGs I moisturize my hair every day (only a little so as to avoid too much shrinkage) so it's never dry. Big pro!

I stay in wash 'n go's because they're so easy, especially at the last minute...but I don't mind going out with wet hair (except in the winter). I do mine on soaking wet hair with oil and a curling cream usually. Shake then wrap in a t-shirt to absorb most of the water. Shake and let air dry. Rarely do I use gel because that is harder to distribute in my hair. Also, the results generally don't last as long.

I am also 4c and I have waaaaayyyy less tangles with a wash and go, when I wash and go every other day. I personally, think wash and go's are great for 4c hair in maintaining moisture which results in length, but they can't be stretched for 7-8 days and just spritzed with water like many naturals are suggesting. Doing them every 1-3 days will make the curls thrive and cut the wash day routine down significantly. I can wash and go my hair in 30 minutes. I do blow dry it when I do it at night, but I'm fine with the minimal loss of moisture from blow drying it, knowing it's going to be dunked again in water in another day or so. I don't shingle and all that jazz cause the definition often gets lost in shrinkage, but I do apply a gel in 1/8 sections of my hair. Try a wash a go, every other day for 4 weeks and let me know how it works out for ya. It might change your life :)

I have mostly 4b hair and I enjoy wash n gos. My wash n gos are very quick which is a reason why I love them. I do all of it in the shower. It takes forever to dry so I diffuse my hair and band before I go to sleep. My hair be moisturized and poppin'. The con of doing wash n gos with that method is it only last a few days. If i want it to last at least 5 days then i have to rake and smooth for 1-2 hours.

After recently using the TGIN daily moisturising butter cream for the first time, I realised that you dont even need gel while using this. It looks and feels like a cream, but it acts like a gel. It even leaves a hard cast when it dries. It's not moisturising, so I advise to use oil on top. They should rename it "cream gel", because it certainly isn't a moisturiser.
