Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty Quilted Sweatshirt. Wear your work, quilt block sweatshirt DIY

This was a fun experiment, now I feel like I have to make another one to see what all my changes would look like!
Soft Kitty Warm Kitty Block Measurements (correct)
Ear unit:
(1) 2 1/2 x 1 1/2 (ear background)
(2) 1 1/4 squares (ears)
Head
(1) 2 1/2 x 2 1/2
Body
(1) 6 1/2 x 3 1/2
(1) 1 1/4 x 1 1/4 square (tail)
Background
(1) 4 1/2 x 3 1/2
Star legs
(4) 6 1/2 x 3 1/2
(4) 3 1/2 x 3 1/2
(8) 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 (star legs)
The final block measured about 13 inches. It was pretty big! Several of the blocks would make a super cute quilt or wall hanging.

What a cute idea and even though it wasn't quite what you wanted, you made it work. I think it turned out adorable. I have always liked the way you keep going and rethinking how to do something and you are not afraid to try it. You always come out with something beautiful and made with love and that is what is precious. I love watching you Maymay be it sewing or making cards. Girl WOW Your Quilted Sweatshirt is Adorable….SEW CA~UTE and I’m so WOWED right now…I mean I got up (couldn’t sleep) and saw your Maymay Sewed it and OKK first off I was like WHOA as I didn’t eve realize you had a sewing channel…so YOU gotta know I sub and hit that ring ding and watched it ……….kinda like. STOP. LOOK. And LISTENED and, of course while enjoying my 4:30 a.m. Kuppa Kuppa and Singing Soft Kitty Warm Kitty. (Yep a BIG Sheldon Fan) anywho I was mesmerized and sew enamored with your planning….sketching….and pen to paper…and sew on…..and to see everything come together. Well I’m SEW impressed and would never have guessed it was a first 4 ya!!! LOVE it allot and trust me she’s never going to take it off…well ya know I just skidded the truth she’s gotta wash it. 🤣😂🤣😂. I also totally agree with your philosophy of buying something because you MIGHT need it later. This is such a fun project! You are so creative. I have purchased silcone mats at the dollar store, about the size of a placemat, that can be used between the layers of the sweatshirt while pinning the design into place. It really makes that part a lot easier. Also, I would applique a tail for the cat and stitch some whiskers. Maybe even add button eyes. Just my thing!

You could have used a little batting between the layers of the cat and that would have made it a little puffy

What I would have done differently is to sew the whole star and then cut a slit in your backing to turn. It won't show through the front and all your points will turn out the same.

the kitty will pop more if you put a face on it. Maybe use a small zig zag satin stitch and just free hand a little now mouth and whiskers
