Excellent. I just bought a new CRF300L Rally and rode some sand just last weekend. My performance was just awful, but I am beginning to see the light. Thx much for these great tips!

You have the best advise on the internet for riding. I remember how awkward first riding sand was, now I'm lots more comfortable...maybe not much better, but you have to let the front wheel dance a bit. And brakes are usually not necessary when in sand...that's when you chop throttle.

Clinton is so much easier to listen to and down to earth than old mate “get my helmet off and get a hat on”. Great tips.

Hi Clinton, thank you for the great advice! Went on a longer off-road ride for the first time last week, two-up at that, and the lessons I learned from your videos saved my bacon on a sandy section I encountered. Thank you very much once again!

I like the brap brap too! You can't ask someone to hold onto the throttle on the entire time lol. WHen it gets squirrely, add gas!

hello mr Clinton. I am a relatively new rider I am riding for a little over a year and I own a ktm duke 125 with road tyres I leave in an area close to the sea and I often counter loose sand is there any tip for riding on sand with road tyres I know it's a bad choice to do so but sometimes it is inevitable. cheers from Greece

Hi Clinton, this is great advice, thanks! What about pavements that are being re-capped and have these deep grooves? How should the pilot act? Thanks! Sergio Hart, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
@SMARTPrograms10 жыл бұрын
Hello Sergio, thanks for watching. Paved roads that are being resuraced often have those deep grooves. Some bridges also have metal mesh surface. For both I think you should adopt a loose grip on the bars and let the front wheel wander a bit. Keep the throttle on in one gear lower than normal to maintain a crisp throttle. Keep your lower body (knees, legs, boots) very tight to the bike. Our natural reaction of slow down and white knukle the bars is the worst reaction! Good luck!

Clinton Smout Clinton, thanks so much for taking your time to answer me. Sometimes paved roads and urban scenarios can offer real challenges. Especially if you are in a developing country, where driving a motorcycle feels like you e in an enduro competition! lol ,,, Thanks so much!

hey clinton, it's not too difficult getting around a flat soft terrain but how do you handle uphills that are muddy or rough? what's the best way to handle those?

Deep sand you need to steer the bike w/ the throttle and bars etc.

Hi Sergio, thanks for your question and sorry it has taken so long for me to realize you asked it. Pavement that is being resurfaced is often scraped leaving those big grooves that freak us out on bikes. Drop down one gear to be able to keep the throttle crisp which keeps the front end elevated . Put an imaginary egg in each glove (relaxed grip) and let the front end wander a little. Also keep your weight back on the seat to keep the front end light. the worst reaction is to white knuckle the bars and slow down aggressively.
