I use tennis grip for the bottom hand and hockey tape for the top hand. Works great.

Oh nice idea!

I have used hockey tape for years, going maybe half way up the normal grip length and adding a slight cuff at the bottom. I always thought that this would lower the value of the bat when I sold them, but I got more than I expected when I auctioned an older Freak and an Easton L3.0 with tape on them last year. I never use gloves, even with a one piece bat, unless I have a blister or cut on my hand- it just feels more “real” to me.

Rob Rich yes! No batting gloves “feels more ‘real’ to me”. I feel the same way!

glad to see you’re “keepin’ it real” BH. Keep up the good work.

I'm a fan of the thin handle and knob cuff as well. I like the thinnest Lizard Skin. Hockey tape works well too. I use a semi overlap grip. You wouldn't think something like that would make a difference but it does.

Jim Peterson yeah especially if you’ve already been struggling at the plate a little. The last thing you want then is for the bat to feel like you don’t have a chance! I forgot that the Lizard Skin has different weights to it. I’ve never bought any so haven’t paid close attention. I would probably be fine with the thinnest as well. Thanks for the comment!

Turn the knob cuff inside out, wet it under a faucet, slide the cuff on the handle over the knob, roll it down on to the knob until it turns outside in, go hit. Easy as 1 2 3

Clemente Gallo oh nice! That sounds like it would be easier on the fingers 😂. Thanks for sharing!

A little dish soap will slide the knob cuff on & off 👍

I use hand sanitizer as it evaporates quickly and leaves no residue behind.

I've always used Lizard Skins, and at some point just got sick of dropping $14ish multiple times per year, per bat because they just don't seem to have a long lifespan. Last year I decided to just go with hockey tape & a knob cuff, or just create my own taper with the hockey tape. To add grip, I use Tyrus premium grip stick. So far, so good.

Hey Bathound I prefer a thicker handle with a Grip-N-Rip knob cuff dropping my last two finger off the end. Love your bat reviews and the adorable Bat Pup...lol

Haha thanks for the support! :) I'm fascinated by how different hitters can be. I've bought a couple used bats that had really thick grip on the handle - one that even had a double Lizard Skin! - and it's quite amazing how much of a mental hurdle it is for me lol. Glad you found what works for you!!

I like a thicker handle...I leave the original tape on the bat and go over it with Lizard skin to thicken it up..

Duane Van Winkle thanks for the comment. I am always impressed by people who can swing with the thick handles. So opposite of me but it clearly works for them. Double grip - impressive!! 👍👍

I personally tape my own cone on my bat. Spin the tap so it looks like a shoe lace, then but it on the botton then and where you would like grip. Tap is tight. Good to go. Thanks bat Hound

Chris Cruz thanks for the comment. I’m trying to picture it. I’m always impressed when players have the ability to tape the cone. I’ve tried and it never goes well, which is why I went to buying knob cuffs 😂😂
