What are some good drills for the reach? To make sure they are engaging their lower half

Is it important when coming forward is it necessary to come with a higher leg drive. Saying if your a right handed pitcher does left leg better coming forward be somewhat higher or doesn't matter?

I like to stress to my girls that the KNEE of the stride leg (so the left leg if you are a right handed pitcher) drives up and out. You do NOT want to kick the stride leg up as high as you can, that indicates that the pitcher is pushing UP more than she is driving out, and it can also throw off the timing of the front foot landing and create all sorts of problems. I will talk about this more in the reach part of the pitch next week!
