Love how candid and honest this interview was. She seemed really self-assured and confident until Mark asked about her saving money. I was so confused the whole time. She said that she doesn’t fall in love with any of her pimps or clients, but later said that she’s addicted to the lifestyle and addicted to love. And she’s doing it all for money, yet she doesn’t take any money from the clients and gives it all back to the pimp. There’s so many contradictions and, you’re right, it’s clear there’s very deep pain there. Wishing her and her sons only the best.

Sounds like she doesn’t even NEED a “manager”. She’s so educated and articulate. She yearns for love and is doing this undesirable “career” because that’s where she’s getting the attention she so desires. She doesn’t even get to fully reap the “benefits” (money) and doesn’t mind it because he’s happy. She full on knows this, and said in a way she feels like the “trick”. Just wow. So honest. So much potential.

Definitely beautiful inside & out, but a truly strong woman would not allow a pimp, or any man to control her life mentally, physically, sexually, financially, etc. Does she hold her head up high despite her traumas, yes, & I respect her for that, but strength is majorly lacking. Now if she one day looked in the mirror & told herself I love you, I deserve true love & peace, my children need & deserve a better life, & left her pimp & the tricking lifestyle...now that is strength. I pray she someday gains the strength to be the amazing woman & mother that she deep, deep down knows she is. False pride is very scary & deadly

This woman is the epitome of the often held experience of women. She’s smart AF in a world that doesn’t value her intelligence Which doesn’t mean the lifestyle for her is easier just because she’s smart. Just because she reads the room easily. Lovely to hear you girl, but the longer you’re doing something you know you’re better then, the longer it will take you to step out of this Thanks for your honesty X
@same_ole_lemonz41952 жыл бұрын
This is only my opinion but I think it is better for people in this business not to be smart. I think being very intelligent would make these transactions very painful especially when she sees herself leaving with nothing and her pimp getting everything.
@brittaolson65502 жыл бұрын
@@same_ole_lemonz4195 Not saying I’m a genius but, as a thinking person who has been there, I concur. However, I can also understand the reasons for, and origins of, the street hierarchy. In a sense, that makes it easier to accept. If I’m with someone who has earned his title, that is. But, yeah, for as long as I’ve done this I understood the exploitative nature of the business. Street pimps and dealers are also exploited by privileged people who want them to procure illegal substances and services, so they don’t go to jail. So, while there are painful hierarchical interactions, there are also parallels, and you see people’s humanity who a lot of others don’t, when you live with them. I can tell she is the same way…if anything, she is too understanding. I get misread a lot because I do believe prostitution is an abusive, exploitative social institution. At the same time, I have a lot of respect for the streets and for pimps who are fulfilling their role as head of household and love their street family. There are girls and women who are trafficked but, in my opinion, most women are forced into the life by economic inequality, rather than by historically oppressed men. I’m not trying to deny anyone’s agency and say that people remain oppressed. There are some real street empires. But the factors that disproportionately sort people into illegal vs. legitimate economies remain the same. I love how real she is about the dynamics of her relationships and the realities of the game. A lot of women will sit up there and swear they love the sex to put a tint of glamour on it, or for advertising, when ain’t nobody waiting for Richard Gere to show up to break luck. And she summed up that bottom line…”There are some things we have to do on our own…ain’t nobody going to die for you.” Forgive me if I didn’t quote that exactly, but that’s it right there. That’s what this life teaches you, more than anything, to do what you do for you. Nobody has to live (or die) with your choices but you. They can walk away from the consequences…you can’t, so don’t ever let someone tell you to go to jail or die for them. But if it makes your life better to choose, then don’t let anyone tell you not to. No two lives have the same set of variables!

😂😂😂😂😂 wtf is wrong with women today?
@ktothec242 жыл бұрын
Her world doesnt value her intelligence. Meaning the world of prostitution. If she’d chosen a different path that could’ve been different. Everyone needs to quit acting like such a victim and take some responsibility for their life. It’s just exhausting at this point.
@brittaolson65502 жыл бұрын
@@ktothec24 It’s a lot more exhausting to have far fewer options than most and be blamed for trying to survive by making the most of the ones you do have. Most sex workers enter the business between ages 11-14 when, by ethical and legal definition, they are unable to choose. Some are sold by parents, “boyfriends,” or run away from abusive homes, fearing they will be sent back by authorities unless they live on the streets. That includes abusive foster homes. Some are thrown out. Others follow their mothers, sisters, peers, or role models into it. Many in urban areas are sexually harassed and stalked by chicken hawk tricks every day, on their way to school. These are underage kids who can’t know the consequences of their actions or even what they’re getting into…that’s why it’s illegal to mess with kids. Once they’re out there, they aren’t getting an education past grade school most of the time and don’t have a legal guardian to sign permission to get a square job. So, not having skills and knowledge of how to to work a job even IF they would otherwise have the opportunity, they frequently have a record by age 18-20, because they continue to survive the way they do know. Where I live, for 15 years after a prostitution arrest, you are barred from employment in child care, schools, human services, health care, denied opportunities to work/volunteer with children, youth, or seniors….a lot of the typically feminine occupations. And good luck renting an apartment or getting any employment, because you’re on a background check list with pedophiles, child batterers, and only the most severe woman beaters. It’s on you to convince landlords/employers that there is some distinction between you and violent criminals. If you’re successful, the management company, whom you usually don’t meet, is usually unmoved and vetoes it. If you were caught with drugs that may have been yours or anyone’s around you, you can’t get student aid, financial assistance, public housing, etc. Also in my state, women’s shelters won’t allow you there, even if you are experiencing domestic violence, because they consider it a risk to other residents. Meanwhile, they let women with psychotic stalker husbands who kill pet animals, commit SA against kids, and commit multiple violent offenses stay, but that’s fine. (I both lived and worked in them, not just assuming). Kids may or may not commit crimes voluntarily if they are being trafficked, and turning 18 doesn’t magically free them. That’s why there are programs with lawyers doing pro bono expungements right now. It’s not really news that kids can’t choose the life. Women who start in the life as adults, on the other hand, may be perfectly capable of knowing what they’re doing. I don’t hear her trying to blame someone else for anything. She’s just talking about the reality of the street. A lot of the problems women face, in terms of not benefiting from their work (and men in the game too) have to do with it being illegal. If it was decriminalized, a lot of these things wouldn’t be issues. She could save money in her name. A pimp could list his workers as beneficiaries (I’ve seen that happen in a quasi-legal brothel situation, and the women came out quite nicely after his death). The only pimp who doesn’t value a woman’s intelligence is a fake one. In an unrecognized, unregulated business, there are always plenty of quacks. And still, a lot of women are able to do better to support themselves and families on the streets than off. For men and women both, who grow up in the streets, this society does a lot to label and condemn people more permanently than Europe, Canada, etc., and that’s why we see the recidivism we do, and the lack of change in outcomes. I actually see a lot more underachieving people from privileged backgrounds shifting blame onto others than street people. The world has a lot to learn from stories like this one, if we listen.
