I shot meth from 16 to 43 years old. I was that girl that used to leave school too. I am coming up on 4 years of sobriety, I am back in school to get my HS diploma. I currently work at the exact rehab that I graduated from in 2016. I had 2 relapses but those made me stronger. WE do recover if we really really want it.

@Bigballs fromthefalls it’s really not. I see it because I know it. If you’d like to see it - her head is hung very low & forward. That’s a lifetime of disappointment. Maybe you think body language trauma is only demonstrated by a fidgety skitzy drug abuser. Her body language is that of a disadvantaged hopeful survivor
@katsss
@katsss 2 жыл бұрын
To be more specific when we internalise pain & trauma it manifests in our entire being - spine, fascia, organs. Experiencing trauma especially as a child changes our muscle memory and our subconscious becomes programmed to mostly unhealthy survival mechanisms. It’s the hardest war we will ever fight to free ourselves from that which it seems we were destined for. Substances are the easiest - but temporary fix. The real fix seems impossible - to lift beyond that weight is the hardest mountain to climb. Surviving just another day is what we should give ourselves more credit for because that is an achievement we underrate. It’s a constant journey and I don’t think it will ever end but to make it easier I’m forgiving myself for being who I am. This channel makes me ever so grateful for that which I do have. My heart goes out to each and every one of these survivors 🤍

I been an addict for 24 years, been clean 6 yrs now, and it honestly took me getting disgusted with who I'd become and my situation, I dropped everything and everyone in my life and focused on me and getting better, I went through the being dopesick, it was hard, very hard, especially when you have nothing and all the odds are against you, but you just have to get to the point to where you say f**k it, and just do it, and the number 1 thing is turning on and dropping the playmates and playgrounds, there are places to get help and get started turning your life around but addicts tend to keep coming up with excuses, we have to surrender, accept who and what we are and begin to turn it around, and I know people say it's easier said than done, no one said it would be easy but recovery Is possible

Being a nurse for over 15 years and an addict prior. I noticed how swollen her hand was.... idk why that caught my attention but certainly praying for her.....she has a lot of anger inside which is to be expected almost.....she mentioned at first how she was a pagan and something about pagan high priestess and then she says later she is closer to God and prays more.... I’ve noticed in almost 100% of meth addicts how much they contradict themselves. But I wish her all the best and am praying that she can stop this lifestyle.

@@barrybrown8597 Have you ever been in that situation? You have to be able to prove who you are. If she knows her Social that's great. @myflippinlife181
@myflippinlife181 2 жыл бұрын
Listen. None of you are heartless. And you have a point when you say it's just a matter of obtaining the paperwork, etc. Initially, you are so correct. For the average human being, it is that simple. I am in recovery for meth addiction. It's embarrassing to talk about but it was a part of my life and since I stopped, I still have to face it and accept it and be accountable to it. But even clean, it's TOUGH to get your affairs in order! Not only do I find myself cleaning up the mess I made of my emotions and the emotions of people I love, I'm having to pay back financial debts and get things fixed that I didn't have the money for while I was in active addiction...like my driver's license expiring and then finding out on top of that that my license was suspended bcz of a traffic ticket I completely forgot to finish paying on now that I live in a whole other state back at home with family I am having to go through a huge process with Georgia DMV and pay fines for suspension before my home state will let me obtain a license...not to mention car insurance has to be obtained before ANYTHING gets resolved. Im sober doing all of this and I honestly cry everyday lately trying to get all this done. A person in active addiction depending on whether or not they are high functioning or not needs help. Doesn't mean someone does all the work...noway ..it just means they will need help prioritizing the steps and they will need to be motivated to get it all done no matter what it takes. It's overwhelming sober or not. The best way to see how serious they are is give them one or two tasks and see how long it takes them to get it accomplished. That will speak volumes. Just because they seem emotionless means nothing. Meth strips you of your emotions. But someone who truly wants something they will do what it takes whether they're an addict or not...that doesn't go away. Sometimes just having someone that will help you take a step and knowing they believe in you bcz most people don't at that point means everything. I've had one or two people out of the dozens I thought would always be there for me be those people and helped pull my mindset out of hopelessness. If it weren't for them Idk where I'd be at this point. And I was a very high functioning addict. When most people found out the truth they were shocked, pissed, judgemental, and now nonexistent. Just please realize even though the addict played a huge part in the messes of their lives, they are coming from a different place than most people, okay. The addiction is just half the battle.

@@myflippinlife181 You're not telling me shit. I've been there. I've done it. My home was a fenced dumpster behind an Applebees in Chattanooga, TN for two years. I weathered blizzards with bare feet. I lost toes, and parts of fingers to frostbite. No, it isn't easy to get your ID when you have no paperwork, but it's doable. Jumping on mark the instant the cameras cut to get paid only means one thing... and it ain't that the money is going to get her an ID. I'm sorry for your hardship, but blow that smoke up someone else's ass. I've been there. I've lived that life. For more than a decade I struggled. It's about actually wanting the change... and she doesn't want it yet. I'm sorry if my interpretation doesn't align with yours, but the dozens of messages I've gotten from other's who've also made it out confirm what I said in my original comment. We can smell our own, pre and post. This woman isn't ready to get clean. She's just now sharpening her teeth to sink them into all of the nefarious ways we support our addictions until we're ready to be out. She has no desire to be out. She has the desire to get high. If you disagree, then I must question the severity of your own struggle. Yours may have been hell for you, but some of us have seen the hell that others can't fathom. I'm sorry if I sound rude, but your denial of my own interpretation and willingness to publicly denigrate it speaks loudly to the disparity between our experiences. You have my best wishes for peace, health, and prosperity in the future regardless. I harbor no ill will toward anyone who has faced adversity, hardship, and struggle in life and come out the other side able to tell their tale.

Meghan Servidio As someone who was addicted to methamphetamine for 26of my 60 years alive, I lived through all kinds of scary and traumatic situations. The pain isn't a badge. It's coupled with anger and is a defense mechanism. It's a protective shield, like armor. It builds up over the decades. Anger got me through all types of situations. Anger was also the only emotion it was ok to express. Anything less and you're considered weak. Happiness, sadness, kindness, caring, helping others, all the emotions that make us human aren't ok to show. Showing any type of vulnerability is definitely a no no and will get you taken advantage of really quick in the drug world.

When we stop using drugs we are faced HEAD ON with the trauma and emotional pain which makes drugs/emotional escape so enticing to begin with. The idea of going through withdrawal AND having past trauma flood your psyche + seeing clearly the damage and lost time from the dugs simultaneously is absolutely frightening. I understand why people feel stuck. Frozen with fear of facing ourselves.

It's only those without children that dread that damn question and feel the pain bcz it's almost impossible to get through a week without being asked! And then to make things worse, people many times continue with..."no kids? Why? You don't like them?" More times than not that is the next question so there you go...can you maybe possibly see why her defenses are up? You see, with addiction there is soooo much anger and shame involved. Those two emotions are what's killing people or keeping them stuck it's not just the drug. We can take the time to watch these videos regularly. Let's take the time to dig deeper and do some research. Get our hands dirty. Get your hands dirty...then you'll understand...but most people wouldn't be able to handle what these people have endured. How ironic is it that some folks are in these kind of situations and others are in situations such as hers. I have 2 spare rooms but I live in northern Louisiana. I knew of someone sleeping in a tent around my area. I offered to let her stay for a month so she could get off the meth, get her ID and get a little stability. No strings attached and she wouldn't owe anything. She said she can't because she don't get along well with other females. I know the feeling of being homeless. I was pregnant with my son 23 years ago and was sleeping in an abandoned house. I have slept in tents and on a bench. The struggle to get out of that is real. If she was around here I would offer her the same as the other person. A warm bed, food and necessities. Sometimes life can be disheartening. Stay humble.

Re: her discussion of pagans and paganism, I'm fairly certain she's not talking about pagans in a religious or spiritual sense. I'm from Maryland like she is, and here (and all over the east coast) we know "the pagans" as a white supremacist drug-pushing motorcycle gang. Especially up toward central MD (Baltimore area), western MD, and the northern eastern shore of MD. Just like the KKK uses designations like "wizards," the pagans use priest/priestess. I think that's why she says she can walk through any neighborhood and nobody would touch her. Because she's protected by the gang.

I worked all kinds of jobs and as long as I wasn't selling dope I thought I was a winner. A remarkable interview, one of the best from Mark and also the interviewee. Jamie, bless her, has such clarity and honesty and eloquence. She starts off hard faced and defensive (naturally) but she soon responds and softens to Mark and reveals her hurt so sensitively. I want to snatch her up and remove her from the pit she has gotten herself into but we know that the addiction is so overwhelming that without her making a superhuman effort she would be unable to change, fall right back in. I'm 67. Left school at 15, no qualifications at all and jumped into the drug scene, couldn't wait to do it, spurred on by publicity about rock stars doing it. I took everything going, partied, graduated to injecting morphine from chemist burglaries, I was on the slide into oblivion. However one thing kept nagging at me, pulling on my shirt, it was seeing friends a couple of years and more older than me who were either deeply addicted or so far into the lifestyle that their lives were becoming wrecked. It scared me and over time I realised I had to get straight so removed myself from where I lived completely, got a job in a remote area in Scotland where I was expected to perform responsibly, which I did. I thank God that I did that. I found being free of the scene so liberating and I found nature to be my new addiction, fresh air, simple open countryside living, a natural high. It filled the vacuum, It saved my life. When I now go back to my hometown, Mansfield in England, many of the people I knew are dead, killed by addiction, not natural causes. Those that are alive are those that stayed mostly drug free. I did find years later I'd gotten hepatitis C from sharing needles but aged 59 managed to get rid of it after a year on chemo, Shit I've been lucky, but as the lady said, you have to have to want to be free to be able to do it. I hope she makes it.

You’re smart, Jaime Lynn. You know what you need to do, it’s just being able to do it. You don’t have a mailing address, so you can’t write or call the hospital you had been born in to get a copy of your birth certificate, which would allow you to get your drivers license. I can’t help but wonder where the majority of the homeless pick up their SSI or welfare checks except to have to go to the buildings themselves to pick it up. I don’t think someone could just offer their address to the homeless for a small fee, there might be laws in California or nation wide considering the USPS might have a say in it. I would charge someone .25 cents a letter or a buck and then go down two or three times a week deliver peoples mail on Skid Row. There has to be need a for it, and if there’s a needs there is money to be made. One just has to know the laws, and the ramifications for breaking such laws. I wish you all of the best, and I just want to say, my heart aches with your story. It feels like there’s been a lot of wrongs in your life and yes, some self-inflicted, but damn, there ain’t a one of us who hasn’t done the same. I will send out some prayers for you to our Creator in hopes it will help. You have so much more of your life to live and you deserve some real honest happiness. A life where this is a lot more smiles and laughter. You deserve that, Jaime. Be well

@8:30 When Jamie Lynn tries to articulate one of her greatest fears and uses the adjective "insignificant," I think she really means that she doesn't want to become "invisible." A person who people deliberately ignore or turn away from as if they don't exist...They're invisible.

She doesn't play the feel sorry for me card like some of the others, lots of addicts live in the past, blame everyone else, parents etc.

Addiction is extreme self indulgence and artificial security and coping mechanism all rolled into one. The addict has five or more people known to them that are also affected. There is no easy solution or cure and if only the same monumental effort an addict puts in to maintaining their habit, was reversed and used in a more positive way, then the sky's the limit.

Her not wanting to discuss her kids (I’m assuming she has some by what she says) and her regrets as a mom tells me she won’t heal and get well until she does. It’s not until we face our regrets and how we’ve hurt others and ourself, that we get well. Our secrets keep us sick.

She begins by saying she is a pagan priestess, and then she claims her situation has brought her "closer to God" and she prays more than she did before.... what an interesting oxymoron.... unless by "God" she means someone else.

@@joulaikabuchan oh shut up. People are oppressed by people in general on a daily basis. The stats and data have not and do not support the notion that the vast majority of police are going around "oppressing" people. Fact do not care about your feelings. People are not oppressed in America, just too stupid to figure life out and need someone else to blame. You can thank academic brainwashing of Marxism for that.

Fingerprints usually cost money. To get mine done, it was $50. I’m not sure how it is in CA but I know Jamie couldn’t afford that. Most “things” government associated (DMV, SSN, etc) have long processes, costs etc. that she can’t afford and probably just doesn’t have the capacity to figure out considering she’s on drugs
