Rebecca needs a home. Paid city officials are squandering the tax money allocated towards solving the homeless epidemic. Pay attention to the numbers and do the math on it and you will find that the only reason why the homeless epidemic isn't getting any better is because the people in charge of helping these people don't want it to get any better. They have access to unlimited funds and these funds never reach the intended purpose, which is housing for all of these lost souls. Give Rebecca something to live for, and I guarantee she will clean up and be living her best life. Being exposed to the elements is deteriorating her not only mentally, but physically, psychologically, and the government wants everyone to put the blame on the homeless people but it has nothing to do with the people, the system is set up to where these people fail. I have been in a shelter for 9 months, I have gotten clean am on methadone, and the so called outreach workers have squandered away $188 million dollars that Seattle was awarded in a lawsuit against the drug companies and none of that money that was supposed to rebuild the lives that were destroyed by opiates has reached any of the people living in this shelter. They are supposed to spend $110 a week on each of the homeless people for their immediate needs and asking these people for food makes them angry and they tell us to go to the food bank and buy themselves whatever the fuck they want and use us as tax write offs. Billions of our tax money is gone and no accountability, it just gets swept under the rug. It's all being stolen time and time again. The news makes people believe that all these services are readily available, but as a clean and sober and semi sane disabled adult woman fleeing domestic violence, I have jumped through all the hoops and still no resolution to my homelessness. When the program runs out of funding I will probably end up homeless and left with no other option but to sell my body. So believe me, if I can't get housed asking these people everyday what I can do and staying by myself in isolation no visitors allowed for 9 months begging for housing, there's no way anyone less mentally stable could utilize these so called resources that nobody can even access. The government picks and chooses who they want to help. I entered a program believing it would be 6 months long and I would be rewarded with a section 8 voucher, as time has gone on and all these counselors have been given credit cards that are to be used on helping us with our immediate needs, these people have purchased brand new luxury cars with that money, shopping sprees for themselves and they say things to us like"we had to work for everything we have" and it's so disgusting because I would do anything to have a job where I could help others and change my community because it would be rewarding for me. But I'm stuck degrading myself and putting myself in danger because all of the money is stolen, the news media is lied to, and it's so hard to unfuck yourself once you end up in the shoes of myself or Rebecca. So, somethings gotta change because this crap has been going on for longer than any of us know. They claim homelessness can't be solved but give me a fraction of those stolen tax dollars and anyone who wants to solve the issue could. Our government is ran by a bunch of crooks making money off of prisoners the homeless and the addicted. Welcome to hell😢
@greenglittergg Жыл бұрын
She and all these people suffering out in the elements and being hated by the well off people in the community due to the lies that the media broadcasts for the crooked government. It's all a huge scam. Wealth distribution and greed is the main issue. If the money trickled down through the hands of the greedy paid city officials and outreach counselors like they claim it is, a large percentage of the drug addicts and mentally ill would have a purpose and a reason to live. They don't want that. The government uses divide and conquer tactics by lying to everyone. People really need to demand that these people get the help they need. These people are United States citizens, their ancestors paid taxes for many many generations so why is all that money getting sent to kill people in foreign countries rather than going to feed and house it's own citizens??? These are human beings and the level of human suffering we are seeing is the fault of our leaders, not the lost. They know what they're doing

Rebecca is from a well to do family in the entertainment and/or fashion world. No question. With all this necessary denial in order to survive she can’t express her actual needs and despair. I’m so rooting for her; Rebecca has a truly artistic sensibility, a higher level of awareness. She could be so much: a designer, writer, photographer, model. A beautifully substantial person, profound insights and perception. If I lived in Cali, I’d love to take her in. I hear you. I wish he could give her a room, too, but in NY we give rooms to ALL unhomed individuals, yet it doesn't change the circumstances for many. NYC is the only US city that considers shelter a human right guaranteed by the jurisdiction. Sadly, this isn't always the answer, because many people are experiencing other challenges that are primary, whereas their unhomed status is secondary. We need to address the primary challenges first. Mark seems to know this, as he suggests getting Rebecca clean
@elisanathalieheine76712 жыл бұрын
@@scarletsletter4466 Thank you for this insightful info! I know that this is a more emotional, less rational impulse of mine and that it would only work with additional consistent and intense psychotherapy because of the massive trauma Rebecca has suffered. I believe giving her a home can only be successful longterm if it’s accompanied by working on the core issues; the US tend to do a lot of symptom doctoring instead of addressing the root causes. Here in Germany I think there’d be a little more understanding for the complexity of the situation. I pray for Rebecca to find the will in herself to let herself matter, to allow herself to get in touch with her needs again, to work through the pain and sorrow in order to realize herself and manifest in this world. She should be surrounded by beauty, extravagance, elegance, books, art and love, not the cold, brutal vulgarity of the streets. I’m so rooting for this refined gem of a human being.

How come people don’t get interested in finding out about her family in depth? Even though in most of the interviews she is delusional and manic, in the few moments she lets the actual truth out, the drugs and the poor mental state (that’s the assumption) briefly set aside, we can get a glimpse on her story. For instance, what she mentions about Paris, the club Silencio, her knowledge on the city, or else, her knowledge in general, about movies, for examples, can’t help but make me -us- think where/who she got that from. I live in Paris and would love to help her find her way back there. That’s definitely guessing on my part, but her life story in particular about the leaving Paris on a NDA and the places she frequented doesn’t sound untrue at all. I think her story is much less complicated than she makes out. I don’t think adopted or anything like that.I think she is Lebanese. I think the story of being from diplomatic parents is true, as is growing up in Paris and maybe some other countries. My guess is she was a super intelligent kid who always been a bit off the rails (“I found cigarettes when I was 8”) that her Arab Muslim upbringing probably clashed with the societies she was living in (I.e more open, gay friendly, drinking, partying. Etc) . She probably took it too far and that when she went to uni she got too wrapped up the new found freedom and went haywire. Probably the parents found out that she was gay/trans and the dad disowned her. Or at very least banned others from speaking to her. I can imagine very clearly being her being told that she could have a plane ticket to anywhere as long as she didn’t come back. Maybe that was when her parents found out about Mr. Demille. Her accent when she speaks English, especially some of the earlier videos are very “international school”, where a lot of a Middle Eastern kids spoke like that. The vocabulary, the knowledge , the intelligence leads me to believe she was privately educated. I wonder if she speaks in French if we can detect if she has a continental French accent or if she speaks Lebanese French. I would love to meet her, she seems fascinating and I watch every video with the hope that I can unravel and decipher more of her story.

Wow this makes so much sense! I speak French as mother tongue and I feel like the flow of how she speaks is as of a French speaking person! I thought she was North African (Algerian or morrocan) , I’m suprised you commented that she’s Lebanese, I’d say your guess makes much more sense! Lebanese are known for travelling around africa for business so it makes sense she said she lived in africa at one point and the fact that she lived in France, France is official language for many Lebanese.

Aw man... I hit the jackpot this time... Never saw your interviews with Rebecca before... @madrugadao0002 жыл бұрын
I started watching this channel a long time ago and I think it’s amazing. The comments,to the contrary are quite banal, rhetorical and bourgeois; the point isn’t to find the beauty of the interviewed subject but it’s to witness where the human mind can ends up without a good health system (NB:the USA) and awareness on mental illness. Most of this people are in massive need of medical help and neither your pity or donations can make their life better.
@Adrian-zd4cs2 жыл бұрын
I'm really glad to see someone else's point this out. As a nurse who's dealt with the comorbidities of addiction, mental health and then even into a long-term care facility due to those issues - people talk about how the attitude is so great and they can be so inspirational and I literally just want to cry because this person is a shell of themselves I don't care what face they decide to put on that day. 😫

Very good point made. When the interviewees say some things that are really hard to listen to, I try to remind myself of that. This isn't about everyones inner beauty, it's seeing and hearing whats happening in our country all around us, and what needs to change. Mark must have good boundaries, because otherwise it would be very hard to do this project on a long term basis.

Before commenting that people don’t actually love Rebecca because of all the love bombing comments they share… and that it’s wrong. please pause.. people feeling love towards Rebecca is not bad… it is good to notice potential and feel love for someone who is suffering… Do not assume that because someone says something positive means they are ignorant to the FACT that the system needs to change, that we need more resources and better parents. … Please don’t make people feel stupid for feeling love.

I appreciate these interviews for giving us insight into the situations of people that we see every day and probably wonder how did it get that way... But I think that there really needs to be someone who can speak to Mark about what a trauma-informed approach is to interviewing because it's so dangerous the way he responds to some of these really traumatic stories. Perhaps he doesn't know what he's hearing is true and he thinks it might just be a ridiculous story but you can tell that she's sharing it because perhaps she feels a little comfortable with Mark and yet Mark is really flippant about it which I think is really dangerous. Having a trauma informed approach to communication doesn't have to be something that only therapists are trained to do- it's something that society needs to be trained in. There is a comedy in tragedy and many people who go through trauma have extremely extravagant comedic personalities because it's a coping mechanism but I think that they reserve the right to laugh at their own trauma. To speak of it lightly or even make a joke of it. But we should be sensitive and respectful when we receive the stories. "I don't arch my back." "Well you're also living on the street" What a mixed message. Let me interview you, profess to want to help but throw in these criticisms and judgments at such odd times ... How many times every single day do you think she is told or looked at with negative eyes that convey the message " you're living on the street.."
@erinsmith96252 жыл бұрын
Underrated comment. I've noticed things like this in several of these interviews, Mark is very good at connecting to the 'street' aspect but there are times when I think he could be more sensitive and careful with his words, considering the work he does. Never hurts to learn new skills, especially those kinds of 'soft skills which can be applied in so many contexts, especially by someone like Mark.
@shawna00012 жыл бұрын
This right here! I see that they have a great report with one another, but I agree with this comment. I work with people with varying types of trauma everyday, and to disregard the story that she was trying to tell about being a child in the opera with a question about her previous night's drug use was kind of shocking to me, honestly. I wonder if Mark has become a little jaded with all these interviews... It's understandable, but something to think about in order to continue connecting with people and making them feel safe.
