I have a few SOG Terminus XR’s with the S35VN steel (and different blade coatings/liners). In my opinion the only SOG knives worth buying is the Terminus XR.. for $60 you get amazing value, and the S35VN heat treat is above 60, which is way better than what you will get from other Chinese knife companies who usually heat treat to 58-59 (S35VN). The only downside is the factory edge SUCKS. However I sharpen my own knives.

Also prefer the bigger one and I do like the profile pitty about the steel.

My biggest gripe with some SOG knives is that they feel like they weren’t made/designed by someone who understands knives and what we as knife lovers want. With that being said, I still think the Terminus XR w/ S35VN steel ($60) is a good candidate for best knife under $100.

I agree 100%. I find myself scratching my head over SOG pretty frequently. I guess they go after the market of people who *don't* know knives, but I always wonder why there are companies that still do that.

@ SOG from what I heard had a consultant from GSM come in to make their knives better and this was met with some mixed success. Their first step was to rebrand from SOG to “Studies & Observations Group”, to differentiate themselves from the past and obviously offer more premium options in terms of blade steels and “Made In The USA”. They also went all in, on the Pentagon OTF which despite its promise of “zero blade play” was a flop when people discovered it dulled the knife when deployed.

@ I think some of their knives like the Vision XR and Terminus XR are great options. The problem is people don’t associate SOG with quality, so even if they do make a good product, people subconsciously assume “okay it’s good, but there’s better out there” whether right or wrongly.

@@Sanguivore Thank you. I like SOG and try their stuff on a trial basis. I prefer their multitools over the competition (own a Powerlock and Powerpint), and as mentioned think some of their knives are actually good. Their “Cryo Heat Treat” to their credit is actually very good and is another thing that puts their knives a cut above other brands. The issue is they ignore/drop the ball on other things.

No hand or fingertattoos?😂 looks unfinished. Like your video's👍🏻 440C is bad, really no good steel. Cutting a piece of paper does only show the factory edge. Nothing about how long it wil hold an edge.
