Is it over? Did it end while I was gone? Cause my shoulders Couldn't hold that weight for long And it all just feels the same Somebody better let me know my name Before I give myself away Somebody better show me how I feel Cause I know I'm not at the wheel Is it over? Did it last or come undone? Cause I told ya I didn't wanna hurt no one But the faces are all the same Somebody better let me know my name Before I give myself away Somebody better show me how I feel Cause I know I'm not at the wheel Somebody better let me know my name Before I give myself away Somebody better show me how I feel Cause I know I'm not at the wheel Somebody better let me know my name Before I give myself away Somebody better show me how I feel Cause I know I'm not at the wheel

I saw this guys somewhere around 2016-2017 period in Milan Base. I didn't know anything of them and little did the public then in Milan. They were preparing for a show and someone from the public asked what's their stage name and because of the fact that they are playing music at that time the vocalist replied with sign language to make SOHN letters .. i have a video somewhere from this day.. since that day my life changed.. I play their songs in my worst days and in my best.. never disappointed!

Couldn't quite pin what it is about the sound of this music that unnerved me, but when I finally had the chance to listen to the lyrics I related it to dissociation. There was comfort in the lyrics after that, for some reason, like someone out there understands what it's like to live with the disorder. Wonder if anyone else related to this song in such a way..?
@deadwithoutnetflix6 жыл бұрын
Spanky Pants ok, firstly I would like to say: When I first started listening to this song, I definitely caught the dissociation part of it. Because just around that time I realized I had been dissociating for months continuously and I had lost this sense of self for a longer time than ever before. Secondly, I want to talk about the title of the song Artifice. That word means a clever or cunning way in which to trick someone. A relationship of mine ended recently, which left my mind in confused rubble. I found these videos on emotional abuse, but wasn't sure if I was the emotional abuser so I dug deeper which led me videos on covertly narcissistic abusive relationships. I know it's a lot to take in. Basically the guy explained that what these narcissists do is they take everything that you feel or suspect might be being done to you and they throw it in your face or confuse the shit out of you to make you feel like you're doing it to them. But the part that led me back to this song is the fact that in as he was describing this pattern, he used the word ARTIFICE to describe how they do what they do. It's really an awful situation to be and it degrades self worth and sense of self. Basically for someone like you or I with a predisposition to dissociate it is really fucking easy for covert narcissists to take advantage of and even possibly destroy. Once I was out of this relationship, I looked at it and realized I was living in constant fear and disillusion and this is what was causing me to dissociate so much. That's kind of how I see the song now, "somebody better tell me how I feel" because victims of narcissistic abuse will begin to lose their own identity and start to rely on their abuser.

I bought this on iTunes when it was released (before streaming music was a huge thing). I seldom enjoyed it as a kid but coming back to it almost 8 years later, it blows me away. The production on this is fucking beautiful. Every nuance, every pitch shifted note that slams into my left ear then to my right ear....this is music meant for headphones. SOHN rocks.
