I agree Todd is a shameless Fan! As I and many others have become! We Love her Character blowing Talent as much as her mind blowing Talent ! Her husband is not a fan of being front and centre so stays in the back ground but is indispensable as her helps pick songs to be sung, helps with arrangement of music over sees set up and staging and 1,000 things she hasn’t time to do! His Parent share her management duties and watch out she does not over exert herself! She is well loved in her private life and she loves her Family life! She has sung over a dozen OST’s( Official Sound Tracks )for very popular Korean Dramas and even done a Cameo in one as well as 2 Fast and Furious Movies( asked how she got on the Movies she simply asked and they said yes! She also play the Female lead in a Korean ,The Sound Of Music , I have highlights of the vocals which are Amazing! Welcome to Sohyang's world. You have opened the portal now, enjoy the journey. We love seeing people being introduced to Sohyang, one of the worlds top but least known female vocalists. And yes she is fire. A little bit about Sohyang. She is indeed someone with a beautiful soul. A gospel singer, author and cancer survivor, Sohyang sings to bring comfort and joy to others. The only reason she isn't well known in the west is she remains an independent artist by choice due to her faith and health. So no large label backing, she turned them all down. . Also her 2023 cover of Easy On Me -- outdoors under a bridge with rain in the background, rumor has it she sang it in a higher key than did Adele. It is perfection yet almost seems like an impromptu performance (posted by the Sohyang youtube channel) She turned 45 years young last year and her talents are timeless. Sohyang was part of a Christian band and now performs as a solo artist. She is an amazing singer and is often referred to as Korean Mariah Carey (although I think the term Korean Whitney Houston would suit her better as she doesn't whistle like Mariah but has an impressive belting power in her voice). Her life has not been easy. Her parents divorced when she was young and she ran into financial difficulties. She was diagnosed with uterine cancer and the operation left her infertile. If you want to react to more of her performaces, I recommend "Everyone" and "Arirang Alone". Her duet with Min Woohyuk singing "Wild Flower" is also very beautiful. Todd Sauve already gave you a lot of information about our Korean vocal queen. 🙂

So Hyang is a devout Christian and gospel singer from South Korea. In her early 20's and newly married, So Hyang was diagnosed with early stage uterine cancer, which left her unable to have children. After being healed, So Hyang's goal has been to use her voice to bring comfort to people who are experiencing difficult times. She IS NOT motivated by either money or fame. She has rejected numerous offers from major record labels. We all wonder if Sohyang is human or from another planet. Current odds are that she’s from another planet, with an outside chance she’s actually an angel come down from Heaven. 😇 We have never heard anyone sing like her, or be able to hold an audience in the palm of her hand until she lets them go. Her voice is, as one person described it, like liquid gold. Perfection in clarity and pitch, and she doesn’t fade in the upper octaves, which is startling when you hear her hit those 5th and 6th octave notes with such _POWER_ it actually gives everyone goose bumps-and makes us bald guys’ hair stand on end! As she says, her voice “is from God.” She does all the musical arrangements herself, with the input of her in-law family and musical assistants, teaches vocal technique at a South Korean university and speaks four languages: Korean, English, Vietnamese and Chinese, as well as reading French and Greek! Let me catch my breath. OK. She is a cancer survivor from uterine cancer at the age of 20, just after getting married, and states very plainly that God saved her life due to the prayers of her church. But this left her without the ability to have children so she decided to dedicate her life to being a Contemporary Christian Gospel singer and has refused recording contracts from the biggest corporations in the world. She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work, to strengthen those suffering through difficult times. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all eagerly worked with her when they were in Asia. She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. You have just witnessed a very small sample of the flexibility in the PHENOMENAL So Hyang's voice. This event was in 2015, when she was 37 years old. So Hyang will be 46 years old on 04/05. In 2024, not only is she aging in reverse, but she sounds better than ever, if that's even possible. Her vocal range is RIDICULOUS and her breath control is INSANE. So Hyang, her husband, and some assistants, arrange every aspect of her live performances; the music, backing vocals, staging, lighting, etc.

I love So Hyang. In this presentation, though, it seems like someone didn't get something right with the sound-balancing. Usually, you can hear her voice in perfect balance with any or all instruments and/or other voices. In this one, just the piano alone seems to almost drown out her sweet but very powerful, strong voice. I don't think it was anything on your end. It's just that the balance was off, somehow, somewhere, within the recording. That's the first time I've heard that kind of thing happen with any of her performances that I've caught. Even with that, though, she shone brightly. I appreciate her (AND her voice) greatly. 😀 PS (Edit)...I just flipped through a couple more performances of this song.
