At this time Waterloo was just a bus stand, no buses were allocated here. The149s at this time ran out of Stamford Hill and Edmonton Garage's.

I noticed RM 1449 passing by on the No.1. That very bus is now preserved by a friend of mine called Martyn Stevens and is in fine condition. I have had the pleasure of driving it on a few occasions. Nice video.

Thanks Sol. You’ve just taken me back 30 plus years. The sound of LS505 there, WOW! Apart from the Ms, they were my absolute favourite buses and probably why I’m a driver at RA now! I don’t suppose you’ve got any footage of the Red Arrows entering/leaving The Collonade have you? Thanks again for posting this, my favourite one yet!

I remember the MBA thrashing in & out of there in the late 70s/early 80s but was at school then and only have some poor photos! The MBA's were good for thrash, especially through the Kingsway tunnel!

Around 11.00ish at Waterloo, early afternoon at Bank. Those seen at Waterloo wern't in service to & from the bus stand. And it was Christmas week, between Christmas Day and New Years Eve so yes, it was quieter than normal and buses were on a Saturday service with a few extra buses in the peaks.

The Leyland national 2. Imagine if that had been the original Leyland national. We could of and should of been the best selling bus in Europe. Think about it 🤔 😏 😌
@jamesfrench7299
@jamesfrench7299 Жыл бұрын
One major issue was lack of metrication. The National was planned to be a fully metric bus with all fasteners inn all components metric as the Europeans ate used to. That did not quite happen with some remaining imperial such as the gearbox. A mix of both systems in the one bus was never going to work for European operators hence why only a small amount of operators there bought any Nationals.

Waterloo was a cut back, in the early 1980s it went to Victoria......The 279s that shared the road northout of London with the 149s used to go out into the countryside beyond Waltham Cross, to a place called Hammond Street, seemed strange to see a red London bus surrounded by fileds.....
