Love it ! I'm making microgreen smoothies everyday about 3, 10-20 trays a week couldn't be healthier 😋

Hi Mandy, do you use a filter for water ?? Awesome video, thanks

I planted a two trays last week Saturday night. Amaranth don't like water. I use germination soil. I have sow some tonight, I hope get a better result in the coming days.

looks like you are using bootstrap trays. Do you prefer the shallow trays over the regular depth? I’m trying to decide
@OnTheGrow3 ай бұрын
Personally, we love the shallow 1" trays for growing with all mediums, or the kratky tray setup for hydroponics (it's still a shallow tray that you grow in, and has a deeper tray for the resivore).

question: do you add any peroxide to your mist? we have been keeping our molds in check with very weak mix 1x/day, water for 2nd mist...water only for bottom.

We are working on that at the moment! Turns out it’s a pretty tricky process since we have so many in depth pictures in our eBook!

question, not just relevant to Amaranth, but more specifically about blackout in general. How do you get sufficient airflow around the greens using this method for blackout? I have huge problems with mold developing when i use the inverted tray method for blackout, so i've switched to a dedicated closet, with no light entering it and fans moving fresh air in to the closet and old air out of the closet. the trays go in there after being under weight for xx days and do not have another tray on top of them. I can also sterilize this closet with a bleach solution weekly. Just wondering how you get ample air circulation with your method.
@OnTheGrow3 жыл бұрын
Great question! If you have issues with mold, a simple vinegar antifungal will generally do the trick! Looks up homemade antifungal sprays, as you likely have the ingredients to get some made! Having that airflow in a dark space would definitely help too!

Just don't blackout any of your microgreens. They don't need it. It just makes them slightly taller (leggy). Grow bigger leaves using fertilizer, if yield is your concern. In my opinion and that of quite a few other grower's I know, blackout doesn't really add any benefit. It's just an extra step and the chances of moldy crops go up exponentially. The only time I black out crops is when I am growing yellow popcorn or blonde sunflowers. Weighted germination straight to lights, you'll be happy you did.

@@William_NS I already use ocean solution in my water mix. If I start using anything else as fertilizers I'll lose half my customers. I've got the mold problem under control now in my blackout boxes as I've invested in some good active air flow solutions inside those boxes. It's still just the damn amaranth that I can't get to take hold. I've tried it on basically every possible medium and I've had a few successes in the past with it but I haven't been able to get any to take hold in months

If you make your own Sashimi at home, Micorgreens make a fantastic bed for it . I have a very hard time cutting diakon radish paper thin like they do in the sushi bars. So I just substitute my micorgreens. Another way I use mine is for the filling for a Japanese "sandwich" called Onigiri. They're rice balls (triangles, actually) that are usually filled with some type of fish. Here's how to make Onigiri kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4PJiqSIobCod5o

Every tray, save one, of red amaranth i've tried to grow over the past year has died from dampen off within two days of taking it out of blackout. I estimate i've killed between 50 and 70 full trays. And if i try to combat it by watering it just a LITTLE less, it dries up and dies. Never growing this stuff again. tapping out.

Nice thanks... I never get Amaranth to germinate. Maybe it´s the temperature.
@OnTheGrow3 жыл бұрын
Very well could be! They prefer it a bit warmer and you definitely need to watch the amount of water… too much and they don’t enjoy it 🤗🌱🌱
