I’m doing something similar with the hay, but I put perennial grass down first then roll the hay out over it and the results are amazing.

Hallo from Orange, NSW and thanks for a really interesting video! We have much the same conditions here, clay soil, overgrazing through kangaroos, blackberries galore etc. while trying to regenerate the land, building up soil and diversity. So really good advice to be patient and wait for the right conditions. I was starting to wonder if my seeds simply turned into bird food. Good to know those blackberries can be useful as mulch! Any idea how to keep those rascally Roos from overgrazing paddocks? I was wondering all summer what on earth that neon green crop was the farmer down the road was growing! And yes, it ended up as hay🙃

Great question, I’m in Hargraves near Mudgee and this is all new to me. Every time I plant something, the roos get to it. Is there special fencing and even something to deter the roos? Should I get a dog that will scare them away? There has to be a simple solution.
