I delivered dry bulk powdered cement to ready mix plants for 11 years. I know all about them animals that like to eat the ears off the ends of the hoses LOL. I learned a lot of tricks of the trade on pumping off the tanks into the silos. You might want to take bungee cord and wrap the ears on the fittings because with the hose wiggling back-and-forth sometimes loosen them up and pops the hose off.

I think it's great that you go ahead and fix the leaks, because if it was your fault, it makes word of mouth good that you made them whole, and if like in this case you still take care of them, and after digging it they discover that the pipe was 8 feet away from where they told you, and it was only 6 inches deep, they will feel a little guilty for blaming you for it, and give rave reviews on contrition! Lol

Mr Charles , where do the ingredients that make up the cement come from ? What parts of the US or outside the US ? Thanks for teaching us about your trade . I hope the VP and family has a good time at the mountains and everyone is well now .

There are approximately 100 cement production plants in the US. The utilize local material to reduce the costs as much as possible.

We have 3 local kilns, Argos ,Giant and Holcium Lafarge, all within about 2 miles of each other. Holley Hill SC about an hour and a half from here. Ingredients are Fossilized coral Aka limestone Clay "pocaline" Coking coal Natural gas The last 2 Ingredients are through the roof! So, if you just tell everyone you are going up on price they bitch already 2 increases in the last 6 months. But if all the kilns shut down at exactly the same time for " maintenance " creating a severe shortage. When they go back into production you will be glad to pay more just to get it. It's possible, just possible there could be some greed going on here? But carma is very interesting 🤔 because we are in 2007 and 2008's a commin' like a runaway train! I sure hope I'm wrong but I fear I'm not.

It's a combination of high demand from lots of construction projects happening at once, and labor shortages from sickness and people wanting to take better jobs, as well as logistics issues for the stuff that gets imported, because the whole world is in chaos right now. Since it's kept as local as possible, I don't know if his area is having a shortage because local quarries are not producing at full capacity, or if gets imported there and they are having trouble getting loads, but it's just one of those things that happens in times of global turmoil combined with high demand.

@@copperheadmarine I agree but sadly that's a large contributor to how we got this deep into the messes that we're in. I don't know of an answer on what to do instead other than calling them on their pontificating of their version of truth and reality. Societies, like the weather, swing back and forth; ideally those swing are slow- and small- enough to not cause mass turmoil and upheaval. Hopefully society as a whole, the citizenry, learn and figure that out before it regurgitates. That's a huge and growing hope....

We just did this 3 years ago to our HS track. For them to install artificial turf this last summer. Had to build bridge over the new track surface. School is only 10 years old, and the old track was asphalt over road base on compacted fill. School engineers are plain DUMB! We did the other 3 HS tracks this summer after they all got new artificial turf. Some major company with a smile on the box woopsied and didn’t pay taxes for 5 years. Schools were owed $17M in back taxes and late fees.
@BentTreeFarmPa2 жыл бұрын
Charlie, This has nothing to do with you, but this just shows the waste of taxes that goes on these days. It's a track for a HIGH SCHOOL, our track was crushed clay, then it was just blacktop, painted, now it has to be laser graded, concrete subsoil treated with state of the art space grade maximum traction and rebound coated track with digital timers and artificial turf infields. Our high school just did this a couple years ago and the project was over a million and a half dollars. FREAKING crazy!!! I guess that Build Back Broke money is really flowing.
